FAF's rules are set out on the main FAForever website - by accessing FAF services, you agree to the rules outlined there, which are supplemental to the FAF Terms of Service. For details of how to report rule breaches and/or how the rules are enforced, please refer to the separate page on moderation Separate contribution guidelines exist for those considering contributing to FAF, while there are also official tournament rules that apply to official FAF tournaments.

@Jip said in Offline Line Campaign/Skirmish: You need to host at least one (coop) game through the client. That will retrieve the file in question. Then you can play offline again. The game files are not included with the launcher by default. Thanks for the help Jip, I appreciate it.

The map is good. Best they can do is to move it from the lower rating range but its not gonna happen for solid reasons.

Unfortunately FAF is currently down due to a networking issue requiring server config changes. Unsure when it'll be back up, but it's not just you. Devs are working on fixing the issue.

We changed the server configuration due to network issues and are working through the issues. The FAF server may not be accessible for a bit.

@furyritchie said in Solved a Direct3d Issue, gained a new issue: I just want to add that this is only for certain sound devices. I believe Realtek. My Creative Sound Blaster AE-7 works with 5.1, 32-bit, 96,000 Hz sound with audio enhancements turned on just fine. Well, yes i was not specific enough. I mean every soundcard that is not using XACT for soundenhancements will not work. XACT = Microsofts Xbox Audio Creation Tool (later Cross-platform Audio Creation Tool) But since no one knows if his sound driver is able to use XACT i only suggest to just disable Enhancements.

@eternal said in CPU rating.: Run windows without any foreign services and startup items Win+R -> msconfig -> 1. Selective startup (Use original boot conf only) or 2. ->Services->Hide all system services and deselect all in list, ->Startup-> deselect all -> Reboot -> Launch faf do the test Thank you for the reply, althought it took me one step forward, two steps back. I did as suggested but couldn't run the faf cilent due to some network issue. I checked the browser and couldn't get a connection. However, I ran supcom offline with 7 ais on a large map and got a noticable change in game speed. @randomwheelchair said in CPU rating.: Close everything you have open in background, like really. Close discord etc, anything that is not necessary for running the game and then try rerunning the cpu test as 450 is not the score you should be expecting. I'd be inclined to think that you could get around 250-300 cpu rating? Also forget about running anything in background while playing as you only have 2 cores available, so that you can avoid simulation slowdows due to some random programs running in background. Still it's no where enough to be running this game in 6v6 games or even on 4v4 setons as the CPU is gonna struggle a lot with the simulation thread considering this is just 2 core cpu, with those 2 cores not only having to run the game but also run windows and all the other stuff that your pc needs to run. Thank you for the extensive reply. I've already tried that and got no results. Expect the 450 cpu rating and the boot to the ass:( In this case I guess buying a new cpu is the solution.

The best place for discussing with devs is on Zulip. To get there we need an admin and you need an email address.

Have you considered using the LOUD AI client instead of the FAF client? If you want to play long games against AI with many custom units, I've heard that LOUD AI is optimized for that, is stable, and supports both solo play and multiplayer matches.

Well, I've done more than my share of fixing audio problems around SCFA - and inevitably it has revolved around either an errant sound device that no one bothered to suspect (or remove) - such as those created by some video cards or multimedia monitors - OR - USB headsets with some kind of processing to simulate surround sound. Once those two sources are eliminated (and simply disabling or removing the device helps) - that generally leaves only the onboard sound or the rare discrete sound card. Just for my interest, what is R2.82 ? And you're right - it is a software compatibility issue. SCFA was written for the XACT audio system, which, at the time, was being pushed as a defacto standard for surround sound by Microsoft. It was not widely adopted but this game was one of the early guinea pigs - and it still suffers for it today. No one has developed games for XACT audio (let alone this very early version of it) in almost a decade at this point.

Okay, I won't use the test map again in the future. I solved my problem. I cut the map into a few parts that I removed one by one until the time to identify the problematic places. I confirm that the problem is related to the heightmap. Somes mountains had to be completely removed and impossible to add new ones to these places without making the bug reappear. It's a bit annoying but at least I'll stop struggling on that xD Thank you all for your help !

Make sure that all of the players are installing the same exact mod files. Perhaps one of you has a different version of Total Mayhem. The one friend who has the desyncs, he should delete the mod files and get a new copy of the mod files from you.

I'm an Aussie and have had little to no issue with overseas games whilst streaming up until about 1month ago (guessing that's when the changes happened) What I've been able to do was use a VPN to resolve most the issues but still not as good as its was. ANZ is currently the largest FAF clan and very active every night and still growing, to the point world players come to our server, it would be a pity if we can't connect to the world.

So in windows 10, with the default settings Steam > Forged alliance fails to open and gives the message? Have you tried opening the program just using the executable? What happens? Have you tried changing compatibility settings on the exe? Right click on the exe, properties > compatibility. Try playing with all the settings. Running an in the 640 x 480 mode should at least run it, from there you can then change the resolution to whatever you want. Forged Alliance changes registry settings after it runs so your compatibility settings wont stick. When FAF loads Forged Alliance the entire folder has been duplicated, with the relevant changes made to balancing etc. Forged Alliance that is loaded by FAF and contains all the new balances. "C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe" Default FAF install location with steam "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\bin\SupremeCommander.exe"

One thing that might help you is that all hotkey and other settings are stored in a Game.prefs file. If I remember right can be found ~users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Gas Powered Games/Supreme Commander Forged Alliance/Game.prefs (but I play on Linux so on windows it might be a slightly different location). Either way you can open it with notepad and mess around with settings that sounds like they might fix your problem (after making a little backup of the file ofcourse). Alternatively you can delete it and I'm pretty sure that on startup of FA it will be regenerated with all settings to default, WHICH MEANS YOU LOSE YOUR HOTKEY SETTINGS but possibly also the problem you are having with your mouse. I have no idea if it will fix your issue, but it's probably worth a try.
