Locking the thread as I don't think it's appropriate to publicly try and shame people, and I don't see anything positive coming from this thread.

Locking this as quality of discussion not exactly high nor productive, and as discussing moderation actions in public is not allowed (as we can see how well this thread is already doing). From the thread author hoping for someone to die of an illness is just over the line. To briefly comment the first post, the moderation team is a team, actions are more often than not discussed as a team and thus taken as a team. Furthermore the appeal system is in place where you can get the team lead and moderation team to review any bans if you feel you've been mistreated contrary to the community rules and policies in place. In this particular case the ban history does not consist solely of one moderator's actions, and the perma ban resulted eventually from repeatable (and unchanged) bad behavior and other offenses where many other community members have been affected. If anything I'd say FAF moderation is quite lenient and gives multiple chances for users to improve upon their behavior, perma bans are the last resort.

@lolthedestroyer Try temporarily changing your default browser in Windows Settings. If you're still not able to loging, please open Run (Windows-R), then copy/paste: %Appdata%\Forged Alliance Forever\logs. When the logs folder opens, sort by Date Modified. From there, drag/drop your client.log file (the Text Document file, not the .gz compressed files) into here so those that can help (not me) have that data to look at.

@nex I don't know, kind of feels like we're exiting the vampire castle. A rigorous analytical solution for a better team rating is beyond my mathematical ability without some heavy research, but that doesn't mean there isn't one floating around out there. Also, given the setup we have, it's also possible to silently test alternative systems (TrueSkill was tested in the same way against Elo, graded based on their percent of wins predicted correctly). Mathematically the metric we want is the players ability to play the game and cooperate with their team well I would refer to that as a goal/outcome--but now I know where you're coming from. And I agree, that is the outcome I'm looking for. I can spitball about what metrics would be good for FAF (in game score? mass efficiency? kills?) but can't confidently say that using any of them wouldn't be abused/go sideways. @FtXCommando A meta-level correction would be to incorporate map statistics. Map gen maps have a larger effect, maps that other people play a lot have a larger effect (and vice versa), playing the same map over and over has a smaller effect*. *Could grade this based on size, terrain, and distribution of mass spots to catch all the gap clones. EDIT: After asking my friend Mr. GPT-4, looks like TrueSkill2 is a good starting point for all the above.

T2 arty is in general not a great counter to T2 arty so I'm not sure this really matters much. It is cool seeing the game's physics at work as that has always been a selling point of the game, but it is a bit annoying/confusing in the moment since this limitation isn't presented in the game in any way and you just see arty mysteriously not firing. Same with other situations where weapons cannot fire due to physics. Unfortunately there's probably nothing to be done unless we want to increase the muzzle velocity of arty, which I really don't think we do. In an alternate universe where we could make engine changes, it'd be really cool if the range ring took into account terrain and elevation and range actually varied by height changes in ways other than just "lol muzzle velocity too low/gravity too high"

@melanol said in You guys ever play 1km 1v1?: you have to be very careful not to order them more than once Personally, I tend to micro aurora with tons of boxing. I'm sure this comes from starcraft 'marine split' micro, addressing the need to have the rear aurora attack-moving forwards to get into weapon range, while the front auroras need to be moved back - but many get confused when I issue lots of commands, you're very right!) Have you ever tried ctrl+shift+moving the move order around? (IE instead of issuing a new one)... It seems to result in less confused wobbling, but I can't be certain, and would love to hear more consensus about it.

That's not a bug though, the volcano just behaves different than other TMDs and missiles fired at max range are usually very high in the sky

The aim of this is to gather new comparison screenshots for the promotion of the release, to get feedback and to hopefully inspire people to help with the remaining units that have issues with the new shaders due to their textures.
