    I really don't see the problem this is solving at a high level of play.
    T3 engineers consume 18-20m/s for T4s/nukes/arty, and 24-25m/s (30m/s Scathis) for game enders. So a huge spending of 800m/s requires around 32 engineers in one place to build something meaningful. I don't think 32 engineers is so difficult to manage that we need engineering stations, especially for a one-time thing like an artillery/nuke/game ender rush.

    That covers large projects, so now we can look at smaller projects:

    Economic structures: Mexes build super fast, so no pathfinding issues there. T3 Pgen/Fab grids are a great option if you have to spend lots of mass (as opposed to T2 fabs), and they average out to 20m/s per engi, which is plenty enough for the time when you will be building them: when you are just building up your eco past T3 mex. And late game when you have a huge eco yet still want to expand it the fab grids you can split into just two or three groups. It'll be safer and is easy to do. Also since eco takes up so much space, you'll need an unbalanced amount of buildrange to make the engi stations good here. PD/Defenses: These things are already very strong and fast to build, removing pathfinding will just make that easy to do on a large scale, which is not a good thing since it buffs a boring and already decent strategy. This also nerfs artillery a massive amount because you can pretty much always near-instantly build a shield anywhere in your base as long as an engineer is nearby. I think artillery is already quite weak and easily countered by proper shielding, so this nerf is unnecessary. Factory assistance: This is one thing where engis can be problematic, because units require a ton of buildpower and engis slowly get into a formation around the factory. It's resolved by the "interrupt pathfinding" hotkey, and you can write a UI mod to run that hotkey when giving an assist order (GAF did this)/the engi comes into range. I personally spam the hotkey all the time when assisting/building so I am biased against engi pathfinding issues ("32 engineers is not hard to manage").

    I'll also agree with what FTX said on Discord which is that it makes the game into an all-or-nothing situation because there is no way to run the buildpower away to save it (a nuke would be devastating), but it is also much harder to attack buildpower.

    As for engine limitations, yes it isn't possible to filter nukes/SMD, and I don't think you can make it so you can only reclaim allied units.

    I think it's a pretty creative map. Boring is subjective and I don't get what you mean with "poorly designed". Its visuals are simple but not ugly
    Playing versus aeon on it definitely sets you back though because of the early aurora in mid but there are ways to go around it. Think ghetto gunship, jester, rushing a naval fac, walking acu over to reclaim enemy naval fac, or playing very aggressively on land while your opponent spent time controlling the middle and building pgens trying to accommodate all that mass. There's plenty reclaim on land to fuel these strategies early on

    It's not easy but there are things you can try doing to win over your aeon opponent. Things other than simple t1 spam that most other maps encourage

    100$k dollars is not even gonna cut it. If remember correctly Visionik was willing to offer much more for the rights to the game and he still heard no.
    There's also no reason for Linus to buy the IP or anything. If anything I think he would be more inclined with simply helping FAF do it's thing as a non-profit community project rather than try wrestling with Square enix for the rights to the IP and shit.

    Seems like a weird choice. You zoom out and think the enemy has 10 destro's meanwhile they have coopers. Are any other icons based on what the unit is good against instead of what they are?

    @IndexLibrorum i must have been mistaken then, was sure i got blocked from unpausing a few times. That's one problem less ig.

    Before making a somewhat lenghty explanation as to what i think the problem is, i'd like to make sure i'm not starting from a wrong assumption: in ladder (and even custom unless people decide to change the setting) everyone has 3 pauses, right? If not, what's the current system like?

    Yes. All coturn servers except global are self hosted. Global can be either Xirsys or Cloudflare depending on our configuration right now.

    Yes, blocking all coturns for FAF is not a smart move 😛
    The ICE protocol requires coturn. If you block all coturns the ICE adapter can only gather your local ip addresses. Since everybody uses a router in between, this will never reveal your public ip to others. And even if it could, it would still be required for hole-punching (you send data out on the port, so your firewall accepts incoming traffic on that port).

    Btw: No match worked yesterday. But since the coturn servers Finland is no longer in the list (off?), it works quite well.

    I cannot recommend Hetzner for DDoS protection.

    Yes I am quite pissed at Hetzner right now. It's not just their lack of DDoS handlng, is also there basically useless hardware firewall setup from the 90s. You can setup exactly 10 rules and each rule only takes on ip-range. That is not even sufficient to whitelist all cloudflare ip addresses.

    I have personally had the best experience with OVH.

    FAF used to run on OVH at the very beginning. It was very unreliable. Also we are talking about the one company that had a whole datacenter burn down so far.

    Hetzner has incredible good pricing for dedicated machines. But the rest slowly goes to shit.

    I think i got this too today, 2 players from enemy team just went quiet at the same time, we won by dc. Tho it happened only once, all the other games were fine.

    This is one part the moderation team think is critical for this kind of account to work. If we wouldn't limit the accounts to a very low number and allowed whatever challenge, it would just be smurfing with extra steps. And the consequences of that wouldn't weigh up to the potentional benefits.

    In any case, I've read all of the responses to this thread and I'm waiting for some free time to properly collate them all and discuss it with the moderation team. I hope to soon be able to share a more fleshed out concept, or maybe even an announcement for a trial run (if our internal discussion concludes with us thinking this could work).
