FAF's rules are set out on the main FAForever website - by accessing FAF services, you agree to the rules outlined there, which are supplemental to the FAF Terms of Service. For details of how to report rule breaches and/or how the rules are enforced, please refer to the separate page on moderation Separate contribution guidelines exist for those considering contributing to FAF, while there are also official tournament rules that apply to official FAF tournaments.

Hey @HerbertFreir, I've randomly come across this post. It's a common thing in pretty much every online game that people will flame each other. All it is is a coping mechanism so they must not admit they made a mistake themselves. It's really just the easy way out for being anonymous on the internet. There is no way of saying this is common or uncommon across a community as a whole as it's mostly invididual. Estimating how often it will happen to you is nearly impossible. Sometimes you will be flamed three times a day, sometimes it won't happen for two years straight. But there is a tendency: The bigger and the younger (on average) the community the more likely it is that people will flame, as they don't expect to bump into the other one ever again. FAF is a small, "well aged" community, and therefore less likely to be that way, as you for sure will bump into someone again. What usually helps is narrowing down the amount of anonymity to a minimum by playing with people you know through joining smaller clans / communities. I, for instance, happen to run a beginners group within the FAF Dojo. It's me and my co-trainer running training sessions with up to a dozen trainees (0-1300 rated) three times a week, in the EU evening hours. Our youngest trainee is ~20 years old, our oldest is ~60 years old. We have gay / trans people, furries... We welcome everyone and respect each other. It's about having fun and learning together. If the above is appealing to you and you could make (some of) the training hours, feel free to join our Discord server and reach out to me. If you can not make my specific training hours, please still feel free to join, meet people you could play with, and maybe find another trainer that matches your time zone.

Have you secured your Discord account since the incident? What steps have you taken to make sure it cannot be used for malicious activity again?

Thanks for your replies, I tested Eternal Strategic Icons, in combination with Penguin's Icon Mod and ACU Highlight (those three mods seem to be compatible), and it looks a lot nicer with the size increase of 150%

Well, weirdly enough, after a few more tests last night, and looking at the f11 menu to monitor, everything was running smoothly. Very minor stutters here and there, which is expected from any RTS. However, nothing like what my friends and I were experiencing the first night. We didn't have time to play through an entire game, but I'm optimistic things will work tonight. It's possible that since my friends had fresh installs, simply restarting their computers smoothed things out, but who knows. I'll reply one more time after we play a full game tonight with an update.

Update guys, looks like it works. Once I add or remove units I have to save but not after the error appears. If you have saved after the error appears then the issue on changing the names and the coordinates of every unit will happen and that will not synchronized with the original script.lua file causing the mission map to be corrupted.

@Tsunatus like Jip already mentioned, please install my AI mod (In FAF you can install AI mods like any other mod) You can find it in the FAF vault or download it here directly: https://forum.faforever.com/topic/350/ai-uveso-v96-ai-mod-for-faforever The AI-Uveso mod has some unreleased FAF gamepatches included and additional debug functions. It will print some game info like memory usage, unit count and gamespeed to the game.log.

@pa4sam Either devs were very fast in fixing the problem (in which case thanks!) or it randomly resolved itself. I can now log in without any issues.

@killerfrog2222 In my experience getting the texture onto the model is the same as any other UV mapping operation. Do you have any experience with this or would you like some explanation on that?

The map is good. Best they can do is to move it from the lower rating range but its not gonna happen for solid reasons.

Unfortunately FAF is currently down due to a networking issue requiring server config changes. Unsure when it'll be back up, but it's not just you. Devs are working on fixing the issue.

We changed the server configuration due to network issues and are working through the issues. The FAF server may not be accessible for a bit.

@furyritchie said in Solved a Direct3d Issue, gained a new issue: I just want to add that this is only for certain sound devices. I believe Realtek. My Creative Sound Blaster AE-7 works with 5.1, 32-bit, 96,000 Hz sound with audio enhancements turned on just fine. Well, yes i was not specific enough. I mean every soundcard that is not using XACT for soundenhancements will not work. XACT = Microsofts Xbox Audio Creation Tool (later Cross-platform Audio Creation Tool) But since no one knows if his sound driver is able to use XACT i only suggest to just disable Enhancements.

@eternal said in CPU rating.: Run windows without any foreign services and startup items Win+R -> msconfig -> 1. Selective startup (Use original boot conf only) or 2. ->Services->Hide all system services and deselect all in list, ->Startup-> deselect all -> Reboot -> Launch faf do the test Thank you for the reply, althought it took me one step forward, two steps back. I did as suggested but couldn't run the faf cilent due to some network issue. I checked the browser and couldn't get a connection. However, I ran supcom offline with 7 ais on a large map and got a noticable change in game speed. @randomwheelchair said in CPU rating.: Close everything you have open in background, like really. Close discord etc, anything that is not necessary for running the game and then try rerunning the cpu test as 450 is not the score you should be expecting. I'd be inclined to think that you could get around 250-300 cpu rating? Also forget about running anything in background while playing as you only have 2 cores available, so that you can avoid simulation slowdows due to some random programs running in background. Still it's no where enough to be running this game in 6v6 games or even on 4v4 setons as the CPU is gonna struggle a lot with the simulation thread considering this is just 2 core cpu, with those 2 cores not only having to run the game but also run windows and all the other stuff that your pc needs to run. Thank you for the extensive reply. I've already tried that and got no results. Expect the 450 cpu rating and the boot to the ass:( In this case I guess buying a new cpu is the solution.

Have you considered using the LOUD AI client instead of the FAF client? If you want to play long games against AI with many custom units, I've heard that LOUD AI is optimized for that, is stable, and supports both solo play and multiplayer matches.

Well, I've done more than my share of fixing audio problems around SCFA - and inevitably it has revolved around either an errant sound device that no one bothered to suspect (or remove) - such as those created by some video cards or multimedia monitors - OR - USB headsets with some kind of processing to simulate surround sound. Once those two sources are eliminated (and simply disabling or removing the device helps) - that generally leaves only the onboard sound or the rare discrete sound card. Just for my interest, what is R2.82 ? And you're right - it is a software compatibility issue. SCFA was written for the XACT audio system, which, at the time, was being pushed as a defacto standard for surround sound by Microsoft. It was not widely adopted but this game was one of the early guinea pigs - and it still suffers for it today. No one has developed games for XACT audio (let alone this very early version of it) in almost a decade at this point.
