The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!

FAF's rules are set out on the main FAForever website - by accessing FAF services, you agree to the rules outlined there, which are supplemental to the FAF Terms of Service. For details of how to report rule breaches and/or how the rules are enforced, please refer to the separate page on moderation Separate contribution guidelines exist for those considering contributing to FAF, while there are also official tournament rules that apply to official FAF tournaments.

Hey @HerbertFreir, I've randomly come across this post. It's a common thing in pretty much every online game that people will flame each other. All it is is a coping mechanism so they must not admit they made a mistake themselves. It's really just the easy way out for being anonymous on the internet. There is no way of saying this is common or uncommon across a community as a whole as it's mostly invididual. Estimating how often it will happen to you is nearly impossible. Sometimes you will be flamed three times a day, sometimes it won't happen for two years straight. But there is a tendency: The bigger and the younger (on average) the community the more likely it is that people will flame, as they don't expect to bump into the other one ever again. FAF is a small, "well aged" community, and therefore less likely to be that way, as you for sure will bump into someone again. What usually helps is narrowing down the amount of anonymity to a minimum by playing with people you know through joining smaller clans / communities. I, for instance, happen to run a beginners group within the FAF Dojo. It's me and my co-trainer running training sessions with up to a dozen trainees (0-1300 rated) three times a week, in the EU evening hours. Our youngest trainee is ~20 years old, our oldest is ~60 years old. We have gay / trans people, furries... We welcome everyone and respect each other. It's about having fun and learning together. If the above is appealing to you and you could make (some of) the training hours, feel free to join our Discord server and reach out to me. If you can not make my specific training hours, please still feel free to join, meet people you could play with, and maybe find another trainer that matches your time zone.

Have you secured your Discord account since the incident? What steps have you taken to make sure it cannot be used for malicious activity again?

Thanks for your replies, I tested Eternal Strategic Icons, in combination with Penguin's Icon Mod and ACU Highlight (those three mods seem to be compatible), and it looks a lot nicer with the size increase of 150%

Just kill the task in the task manager. But yeah, this bug should get fixed. The FAF client is a mess, most of the time you close it, it stays open in the background and even increases cpu load.

AFAIK One of the next major steps for the developers is to narrow down the issue on the ongoing connection issues which some people encounter lately. The developers have just finished improving the Login Service recently https://forum.faforever.com/topic/6429/login-service-update/1 It is extremely hard and time consuming to debug the network stuff so the "ultimate" solution will take some time. If the issue is not related to your security settings like firewall or router, then unfortunately I have no idea how you can solve it on your side - except to try it on a fresh Windows with a default environment.

@magge said in Solutions for common errors with the FAF client launcher or supreme commander: The client is unable to establish a secure connection to the content server for downloading the game files. Disable security software for testing purpose Check firewall settings, if it blocks anything related to secure connection/FAF Launcher

Try switching your default browser in Windows Settings & then try to logging in with browser again. Some browsers have difficulty completing the authentication process. If you still have issues, then please open Run (Windows+R), then copy/paste this into the prompt: %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Roaming\Forged Alliance Forever\logs Click OK. This should open the logs folder that FAF uses. Inside, you should see a client.log file (the Text Document, not the .gz compressed file). Post that client.log file into here so those that can help (not me) have that data to review.

Hello, please check your antivirus program. FAF sometimes requires authorization from you when installing a client update.

@uveso Thank you very much for your reply! Very helpful, I will try to troubleshoot these. In addition, my game will crash in about 10 minutes on a 20KM map. I also sent a post with my three game logs in it, could you also check what the problem is? https://forum.faforever.com/topic/6322/the-game-crashed-after-a-while-on-a-20km-20km-map

@morrissey21 said in bot killing the game: Additionally, I'm facing another issue where my game files are linked to my OneDrive, including maps and other mods. This connection seems to be causing problems or conflicts while playing. You can tell the client to use a different location for storing maps, mods and other content @morrissey21 said in bot killing the game: I keep encountering a user, either a human player or a bot, with a pirate flag next to his name, and he consistently appears at the 2000 rank in my games. Whenever this individual joins a game, it becomes almost impossible to take any action. I can't launch a new game, move people around, or even kick him from the lobby. It's frustrating and disruptive to the gameplay experience. Report it to the moderators when it happens. You can pick your favorite on Discord. Then they can step in and try to catch the person

@popsniper If it's any help, I've found that using the matchmaker (rather than joining custom games) seems to result in ALL my games adjusting my rating appropriately.

Link your account to his Steam account. Then tell him to pm me in forum to swap the steam links. May sound complicated, but your story could as well be used to reset your rating which we do not support
