The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!

    • Strategic Icon's size

      Hi,

I realised I kind of had an issue with the strategic icon's in FAF, not actually per se, but rather with their size. I tried some days ago to increase their size by 150% (using the built-in game option), and despite their pixelated aspect, this setting seems to give me a way better readability of the game.

However, I'm concerned about Sladow-Noob statement in this thread :
      https://forum.faforever.com/topic/7346/ui-mod-guide-for-the-improving-player

< Advanced Strategic Icons: Extremely strong NOT recommended. I would go as far as saying that this mod will completely destroy your ability to improve past a certain level. The reasoning is the incredible clutter, completely filling your screen and taking your overview/ability to select things away. I would suggest you finding a version that only changes SMD/SML if that is your reason for using it, but thats where it ends. You wont be able to develop the gamesense you need if you blind out half of the information the game offers to you. No top player uses this mod. >

I don't use this mod, but Sladow-Noob's point is that those modded icons fill-up the screen too much, decreasing the player's ability to read the situations and select units. But I could assume that this statement also applies to those 150% upsized icons (using the built-in option just like I do) ?
Fact being, I can't see the downside of using that option : the normal-sized icons are really too small for me, I can't read them well, despite my eyes are still in a very good shape.

So I might not have understood Sladow-Noob's point correctly, or I might be missing something, anyway I'd be interested to have any hints on this, or curious to know how you lads deal with the original icon's size.

      Thanks in advance!
