FAF's rules are set out on the main FAForever website - by accessing FAF services, you agree to the rules outlined there, which are supplemental to the FAF Terms of Service. For details of how to report rule breaches and/or how the rules are enforced, please refer to the separate page on moderation Separate contribution guidelines exist for those considering contributing to FAF, while there are also official tournament rules that apply to official FAF tournaments.

Okay wow i finally fixed it. The issue with starting the Forged Alliance through steam was a missing ResampleDmo.dll I tried fixing that by installing the Media Feature Pack for Windows 11 (i had a Windows 11 N version that is missing the media stuff), but the installation failed. Then i just got a mate to send me the missing ResampleDmo.dll files from C:\Windows\SysWOW64\RESAMPLEDMO.DLL C:\Windows\System32\RESAMPLEDMO.DLL and placed them in both directories (they are different files). This also fixed the error i got when starting the FAFClient Hope this helps someone else. I will also upload the dll files here. Use at your own risk, but better yet get them from someone you trust. ResampleDmo.zip

@Jip said in Offline Line Campaign/Skirmish: You need to host at least one (coop) game through the client. That will retrieve the file in question. Then you can play offline again. The game files are not included with the launcher by default. Thanks for the help Jip, I appreciate it.

Things that were mods get forced into your game and enabled by default, but probably missing functionality you wanted, then you get a patch that lets you turn them off, then they get removed and go back to being mods again. It's the new nightmarish cycle of trying to use your UI in FAF.

You have a sound bug which you can tell by the SND/XACT warnings. You should go to Windows key > Control Panel > Sound > Playback > select the Device you use > Configure to ensure that your sound device is set to Stereo then look in Properties to make sure that all Enhancements & Spatial Sound are Off. After you've verified those settings, usually a simple Restart or Shift+Shutdown (not just Shutdown) of your PC will resolve the sound issue. If that doesn't work, then you can have a look at this thread for further troubleshooting: https://forum.faforever.com/topic/4084/solutions-for-snd-error-xact-invalid-arg-xact3dapply-failed

⇉ You can navigate to the folders via the FAF client itself (see attached image) Overview: client.log → Contains information about the FAF client itself. Important when client crashes. game_replay_id.log → Contains information about a certain played game. Important when game crashes. client.prefs → This JSON config file stores game settings like installation path, preferences, hotkeys, notes, enabled mods, mod and map directories, chat and notification settings, window size and position, and last game type/title. Default log location: On Windows: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Forged Alliance Forever\logs On Linux: ~/.faforever/logs client.prefs location: On Windows: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Forged Alliance Forever On Linux: ~/.faforever [image: 1693321191396-f0dcbf83-2360-4769-93a7-fc6725e23f9a-image.png]

Just kill the task in the task manager. But yeah, this bug should get fixed. The FAF client is a mess, most of the time you close it, it stays open in the background and even increases cpu load.

AFAIK One of the next major steps for the developers is to narrow down the issue on the ongoing connection issues which some people encounter lately. The developers have just finished improving the Login Service recently https://forum.faforever.com/topic/6429/login-service-update/1 It is extremely hard and time consuming to debug the network stuff so the "ultimate" solution will take some time. If the issue is not related to your security settings like firewall or router, then unfortunately I have no idea how you can solve it on your side - except to try it on a fresh Windows with a default environment.
