    Other structures (looking at you, factories) hide 'additional' mesh information for the upgrade underground. You can't do that here for things that are up in the sky.

    I feel like it having two 'petals' at the top is important for the silhouette (looking at hq rework discussions, I learned). But based on how animations work, you can't scale them into existence or something like that. All you have is rotation and translation.

    Top petals Direction 1

    About the top petals. Move the top petals on top of each other. Then hide the bones Arm_03 and Arm_01 recursively. That way it looks like the original model:

    Then the first thing you do when you start upgrading is unhide the petals and move them to the right position. This way the time it 'overlaps' is minimal. And the original base model looks the same.

    Now, this type of upgrade animation where we 'duplicate' the mesh is unusual. I don't think any other structure does this. It may feel out of place because of it.

    Direction 2

    This is based on how the animation of the Seraphim shields work. We could create a 'puddle' at the core of the base of the shield to create the new shield. Somehow, seraphim units manage to apply the build shader to only the upgraded parts. I'm not sure how that happens, but if we can reproduce that then we can re-use the build shader for the Aeon unit to scale the new 'top part' from small to large. Just like we do with regular structures.

    This direction requires additional investigation.

    Bottom petals

    Move the bottom petals underground. During the animation you can make them move up from the ground. And as they do that, they start pushing the structure 'up' as they get into position. Hiding mesh below the ground is applied by a lot of animations of structures. The benefit is that the base of the model is then essentially unchanged to the original model, until you start upgrading of course.

    With all of that said, thank you for your time on this. You took the extra step. Not only did you make the animation, you also took the time and effort to make it compatible with AIs.

    The economic damage the frigate can cause is always lower than its costs. There are some rare cases on setons wherenan early aon frigate can kill 4-5 rock mexes (2 island, one on rocks beach, the obvious forward one and one core mex) but even in those scenarios its hardly more than a nuisance.

    I think i have alot of experience when it comes to timing pushes on navy and the key concept is, as thomas explained, build power denial. Ultimately most of my navy wins happen because of build power denial. You can scale up your bp, especially the one needed for a timely T2 transition, keep denying enemy bp with suicide frigates raids or plain water entry denial and then finish the game with cruiser tml or bship. Its of course vulnerable to torps, hover or any other mid intervention like drops, and stuff, but a satisfying way to show an eco whore its place. Think about frigates more as a tool of bp denial in the early stages of navy, and you will learn to use it as an efficient attack.

    Yes, that is normal. It is the game informing a developer (urr). I suspect it is a part of a print statement somewhere that was useful for development somehow 🙂 .

    Current gen Ryzen is pretty good, the first two (1600X, 2600X) were kinda lousy.

    I agree as long as the majority of the community cant even understand basic build orders or game mechanics, why bother make something actually complicated accessible to this bunch of tards.

    We are incapable of doing such a thing. You can ask for this in the NodeBB community, but I wouldn't expect such a thing considered to become a default feature (I think they try to keep the base software lean and tidy).

    Also, people on your foe list, you can still see their lobbies and they can still see and join yours (more of a client than core mod issue but apropos to the op)

    The supcom typefaces only work in supcom because it is a 9 year old strategy game. You can find better familes for any other use. try fonts.google.com

    I have a middlin' 34" ultrawide and stream at native 2560x1080p using the NVENC encoder. At the maximum twitch bitrate, it uses <1Mbit/s and any scaling issues are avoided. Yes, people with 4:3 aspect ratio screens are going to get black bars, but that's their problem. I don't stream for money and can't be arsed about subs and bits and whatnot, but it's something to keep in mind if you have a commercial interest in it.

    I specifically got a 1080p monitor because I wanted to dual-screen with my old 27"er, but it turns out the setup is just too wide for the nook where I sit. I /should/ have gone for 1280 or more vertical pixels in hindsight, but I can live with it. Needless to say, I could never return to a smaller screen size for FAF, the increased viewport is just so much nicer and improves your situational awareness.

    One problem I did have was that the default UI layout is not workable for me - the resource bars at the top left are basically out of your ocular angle and you don't even see it flashing red. MovableUI mod sorted that out for me, I now place my stuff towards the center of the screen and it works well. Even though the mod has some issues, I couldn't go without it even on a smaller screen I think.

    Oh - I'm using a GTX970 for playing and encoding and it's powerful enough even at the highest quality settings I can configure. My bottleneck is my processor really - I only have 4c/4t and would recommend at least 4c/8t for creating a quality stream with overlays and allsorts.

    At the moment the plan is that you are placed a bit lower than you "should" be at the start. That is not necessarily the first subdivision.
    But we will have a look at that in a test phase where we monitor the system while it is running in the background.

    I know I do. When I play rocket league (mainly competitive 2s) I almost never team up. so I'm almost always in randoms vs premades and my team generally wins.

    Same could apply for supcom.

    Anyways to bridge the gap more you could also set up discord to throw you into automatic channels if you consent to it the way we had mumble set up back in the day. and then you're a premade too.
