Looks like the underlying problem was caused by Norton Antivirus Data Protector. I deleted the old 'C:\Program Files\Downlord's FAF Client' folder and down loaded the latest FAF client installer from https://www.faforever.com/ When I tried to run this I got a "Data Protector blocked a suspicious action by faf_windows-x64_2022_4_0(1).exe" message. I managed to get Norton to exclude this process and then everything seemed to run okay. [image: 1651252965315-2022-04-29-1-resized.png]

@Jip I changed to stereo and to 16bit 44100MHz like in the instructions and deleted %LOCALAPPDATA%\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Game.prefs and started Supcom FA on steam, it took veeery long time to start and lagged ALOT like 0.2 fps, took like 10 minutes to get to the menu (last time i started it when i installed it, it started in like 3 seconds) created a new profile and chose it so I saw the menu and then i quit the game. Started the FAF client which also took a long time to start, like 5-6 minutes and started a game against a bot. when the game started and commander had settled down i went into the menu and changed resolution and graphics, hit ok and played for 1 minute, then i went into audio options to turn down the music but none of the sliders did anything. I dont remember if i hit ok or abort or if i left the slider at max, then I played a minute more before it crashed again. Looks like the same issue. Once you log in with the old account, that old account will be the only account you ever use for FAF. You can change that account's name to whatever you want.

@komboyombo how did you do that? maybe I have to do the same... Idk how tho, I only just bought the game to play FAF and can't link my accounts for some reason, getting the same error message.

Last update on the above. I found a corrupt MOD (BREWLAN) on my Client - Deleting this increased the game speed dramatically. Zigster

I get the same error too. No idea what to do about it.

@archnorius Sorted the problem thanks to the guys on Discord. I hadn't set the game location pathway correctly in the settings. Error has been sorted
