FAF's rules are set out on the main FAForever website - by accessing FAF services, you agree to the rules outlined there, which are supplemental to the FAF Terms of Service.

For details of how to report rule breaches and/or how the rules are enforced, please refer to the separate page on moderation

Separate contribution guidelines exist for those considering contributing to FAF, while there are also official tournament rules that apply to official FAF tournaments.

@Purban said in Unable to save the game in offline mode:

To fix this, you need to find "/gamedata/lua.nx2". Create backup for safety and rename the file to "lua.zip", find and extract file "userInit.lua". Inside, find this line (should be near the top) "doscript '/lua/ui/globals/InternalSaveGame.lua'". Delete it or comment out, save the file and put back into lua.zip. Then rename it back to "lua.nx2". After doing this, saving and loading started to work again for me.

This does appear to have fixed the issue. Though it's worth being aware that this undoes the fix that caused the bug in the first place, and risks allowing code execution by exploting an overflow issue in the way the game handles save names.
Make sure you're using trusted mods if using this fix.

@Jip said in Offline Line Campaign/Skirmish:

You need to host at least one (coop) game through the client. That will retrieve the file in question. Then you can play offline again.

The game files are not included with the launcher by default.

Thanks for the help Jip, I appreciate it.

    Hello ILoveMyFamily143 ,

Black Ops has 3 mods for FAF:

    BlackOpsFAF-ACU
    BlackOpsFAF-Unleashed
    BlackOpsFAF-EXUnits

you can find the lates version inside the vault or you can directly download it from here:
    https://forums.faforever.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=12416

Have in mind you must not use the Black Ops icon support mod with FAF.
The FAF game version has its own icon support implemented.

@YouTheNoob Ram is in fact the limiting factor in any program that aims to be efficient. See also:

    http://www.cs.uu.nl/docs/vakken/mov/index.html#lecture

Which is a course about program optimization. There are two whole lectures dedicated to how RAM (and the CPU cache) works and how you can 'feed the beast' the most efficiently.

And about your suggestion on the thread count / processor usage: The game is threaded (render thread, sim thread, audio thread, etc) - but the sim thread (the limiting factor) is not subdivided into various threads. And that is why we have sim drops while 'leaving' all that computing power unused.

And to remain on-topic: a CPU with a large cache that can work with fast memory is beneficial - more beneficial than having a 5ghz CPU.

    Could be a few things:

Firewall - The firewall will block the connection for security reasons. Windows comes with a Firewall that might stop the connection. Normally, when you install most programs, it will create a firewall exception, that will allow the traffic through.

    https://www.microsoftpressstore.com/articles/article.aspx?p=2224362&seqNum=2

There is also the possibility, that your antivirus has a Firewall. Try conguring both.

Another possibility, is that if you share the internet, then someone has blocked a port somewhere in your network eg if you live in student accomodation. Some ISP routers come with advanced security features, that allow you to block ports to prevent users from using specific programs.

NAT (Network Address Translation) can also cause problems, though I think this is less likely. It might be that another user has configured all the FAF traffic to go to another address, that isnt yours. This is known as port forwarding.

Let me know how you get on.

Left Alt + Tab will cycle through the windows programs. I tend to do education between games and look at Firefox. Normally, once the game starts it makes FAF full screen.

So for anyone that has the same problem as me, it appears that this was caused by a driver issue or a USB plugged in to the monitor.

I used the windows driver update to search and found there was 5 drivers that could be updated. I'm pretty good with windows 10 but ive never seen the driver option before.

I also removed a USB stick that seemed to load every few hours. I believe that this was a case of bad drivers and having a USB stick plugged in that would cause an error after x amount of time. Fingers crossed, since the driver update and taking the USB out, I havn't had a single crash. Fingers crossed....

This is how another person fixed it:

"Got it fixed - logged out of FAforever website then back in. Logged back into Steam and it's now linked."

Found the problem: I transfered the My Documents Folder from C drive to a different drive a while ago. If that drive is not connected I get this error.

    Does that file exists? "C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\init.lua"
If yes, delete it, if not, it might be AV blocking it.

Unfortunately disconnects while in game are known to cause long delays of logging back in for an unknown reason.
