Does it make sense to have a ACU wreck instead of a stone tombstone? I know the ACU explodes in a big bang but if all my 2000 best faf friends are willing to suspend disbelief on the ACU chasis being able to withstand a nuclear explosion well enough to leave a blackened wreck I won't argue against it. But yes, nice function, let's keep it.

Do we even need a wreck? There is a large black crater already. Isn't the utility of the feature the map marker and the message?

Imo the tombstones are fun and if it's decided to keep them it doesn't bother me but I'd hate this to be overthought/overdone.

That old adage comes to mind, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

@BlackYps Figured it would make more sense than an actual tombstone. Can still give it the marker and quote. But I'm good with either, I just quite liked the feature and would love to see it come back.

I'm just trying to understand what exactly people like or dislike about the feature because we have:

• the actual tombstones
• the marker on the map
• the text that informs about who the killer was
• the text being funny

It's not an all or nothing situation where we have to take or leave the whole package

FWIW, we actually found these tombstones break the PhantomX mod's win conditions. When an ACU pops the rest of their forces don't disappear.

Didn't report it because we assumed they were reverting after this week.

Otherwise I don't have a horse in this race, but maybe another reason to make it optional.

Made some quick mockups of faction tombstones. UEF I'm pretty happy with, Aeon might need a few more features, Cybran I think I need to scrap and start over



No ideas for sera yet but it'd probably some weird floaty stuff.

Tomorrow I'll try to test the ACU wrecks and get some screenshots of those.

To BlackYps point, can you elaborate on what you mean by "they're"?

The current tombstones, my designs, the entire concept? Would you prefer the wrecks avenue?

and wrecks would be cool, but confusing, because you can't reclaim them

honestly reclaimable ACU wrecks doesn't sound so bad because I strongly dislike when players are able to blow up your army with their ACU and their team loses nothing of value. However currently ACUs "cost" a ton of resources so I imagine a wreck would give way too much also

This is easily adjustable in wreckage parameters. Also ACUs only cost 2000 mass right now, so you could just add wrecks without changing anything.

The best part of the feature was the "funny" text of the tombstone. So idc what the wreck or tombstone looks like.

What if they were death markers? UI modders can mod the text and casters/players can use it to see who died and how, with restrictions as needed for players (allies only at minimum). They would be created in a similar fashion to Notify messages.
This would have no sim changes like wrecks or other objects, thus keeping the immersion somewhat intact (UI is immersion-breaking in general, but this is less so than objects in the world).

UEF is the same, just added some placeholder textures
Aeon added a little plinth
Cybran V2. The dark-red inner area is intended to be a red circuit board type material but that is a lot of work to create such a texture for an idea I'm not committed to yet.

Sera I'm still figuring out designs for.
