    The blips are managed by the engine. There are Lua alternatives, such as temporarily (300ms ticks or so) giving vision on the location in question so that the intel system knows what changed. But this can also show units or upgrades that were previously not known to you.
  • Please reconsider some of the vision changes.

    Agree, the stealth upgrade on Cybran com is much less useful now, it’s basically more for HP which is a further homogenization of the factions. The “problem” of units not immediately appearing at the edge of vision in fog of war never seemed like a huge issue to me

    Reasons not to do this: Longer queue times People that bad should be banned anyway This would essentially allow the community to shadowban people from TMM without moderator input Massive potential for match fixing and/or rating manipulation

    I don't see how manual reclaim is breaking the game. With all the scout laming, tree clumps have never been weaker. Most of the time they just break because of lamers and all those clicks are for nothing. With regards to maps like Wonder where you need to manually reclaim to get the mass in the craters, that is a calculated risk you must take. Some players prefer not to take so much mass but instead shoot the enemy commander. Some prefer to take the damage and keep reclaiming. It is a delicate balancing act between how much you should reclaim vs how much you should fight with com. This decision is skill expression.

    From a technical point you don't want to reduce intel too much, of any type. The reason is that intel works in a grid-like fashion, even though all range rings are rendered as perfect circles. I recall there was an image by @Hdt80bro to illustrate this perfectly, I'll update this post when I find it With credits to Hdt80bro: [image: 1689271436014-19f7f895-393c-425f-badc-4cfc7dc6e30c-image.png] The chunk of red walls is copied on the right, but then with intel taken into account. There's a deceiver (stealth field) in the center of the right 'chunk' of walls. There's a few interesting observations to make: Intel is grid-based The cells of vision intel is 2x2 The cells of other intel is 4x4 And separately, intel is updated every 3 seconds or so. That is why fast moving units (such as scout planes) do not 'immediately' see the units, but they appear 'below' the scout as it moves over previously unknown structures

    @caliber i actually think gimped slots are fun to play every once in a while. If you know you're gonna lose playing normally, it means you can try something weird Even something basic as rushing t2 land for very fast pd is already different from usual gameplay and gives you room to maybe 3v1 the enemy gimped slot with t2 air

    @dorset To deny reclaim fields to the enemy chiefly, but I guess that could actually be too strong rather than too weak. You could just suck up reclaim without fear of wasting the mass (in 1v1) or not having your teammates be able to spend the overflow

    Besides the obvious work in implementing it, there is something to be said about complicating the queue process too much. There are already 9 different toggles to consider when queuing, which is probably about 8 too many from a UX designers perspective. The cost of adding another potentially confusing toggle (which other game has something like that?) is real, but it's imo worth paying.

    The only rating you would have to "maintain" is global to get into certain lobbies? The matchmaker ratings don't exactly open up new opportunities for things, besides tournaments potentially being restricted by them.
