The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!
I completly agree. In high ranked setons it is frowned upon to make t3 subs. People will leave the game for that. The only way they are accepted is if enemy makes Atlantis first, because thats how you counter them.
I also don't really think you can balance t3 subs, they will either be too strong or useless. Maybe they need a different mechanic or just have them work differently to be in a good balance situation
The lobby does not load any game assets. That happens after the game launches. When the lobby is connecting it is doing just that - trying to connect to the other people in the lobby.
If you attack an enemy who is building or moving along the map edge, then it is just unavoidable. As long as you are not using move-waypoints to force units off the map, it should be fine.
I'm pretty sure that's true at every level. t1 is more mass efficient than t2, t2 more than t3, t3 more than t4. This is also why you can't balance purely off of a spreadsheet though, there's so much more to it.

This is the competitive option in my opinion, which gives some time to stabilize and use the ACU, but limits the use time since there were concerns about having two ACUs being OP.

Yes gun upgrade is OP on any map where acu usage is relevant, apart from 5km 1v1 i guess. Even there it'll be oppressive once you get it, it's just harder to get
Best thing you can do is change the maps you play on, more specifically go for larger maps
