UEF air factory engineer roll off direction
-
@IndexLibrorum Why would you downvote this?

It is a minor thing, but I basically notice this every single time I play UEF. Its so annoying even though it doesn't have that much of an impact. Probably because FAF pathfinding is bad enough without this
-
Because the model only allows the engis to roll off from the front and the right side. Otherwise it works fine, it chooses the closest rolloff point for the queued order.

We know why it happens. We just dont want it to be this way

@Nomander I am talking about the t1 air factory, do the same mechanics apply here?
Because I am fairly certain for UEF, engineers only roll off from the front. Not right or left no matter what you do. -

Unlucky. Guess Yew isnt educated in the ways of uef..

What am I missing? He said they roll off right side too, but that's not true for uef
-
actuall uef will roll off front and left, not right. Whereas all other factions do every direction. It should still be fixed. I get like that uef air fac building doesn't appear to have a ramp/waypoint off the fac on it's right, but it could still sure roll off there. Or maybe that arm that builds it could quickly pick it up and drop right side of fac.
Doubt anyone has the time to make that work.

There's no bug here. The unit works as designed. Therefore there's nothing to fix.
This topic is instead a question about the design of the unit. Should this unit be designed in a way that it can roll off engineers to more directions? I'd argue no - it works fine. There are a thousand more meaningful differences (in skill) that decide the outcome of your game.

It works as intended, correct. In that case we should "fix" the way its intended. Yes there are a thousand more differences that decide the outcome of the game but that argument literally says nothing.
Its the usual case of just because there are alternatives, doesn't mean this is good.
Anyway, imo its not really balance issue, but a QoL thing. Yes, you can easily see from the factory design where engies can roll off, however, with the awful pathfinding somtimes / most of the time its absolutely horrible to experience engie walking out of the left side to the stumble around the building to go to the right -
I disagree. There's nothing to fix or "fix". This small faction diversity difference is definitely not one of the few, real remaining problems after all these years. But in the process of changing this you will casually destroy the identity of a unit
. In practice you'll still lose because of the other 999 things that happened in a game. You have repeated how the horrible pathfinding (which is just a different way to phrase 'skill issue') is one of your arguments. I'd love to see some actual data. We have deterministic replays. They can be our source of data. Please show me five recent, non-sandboxed games where this happened. Specifically with the UEF air factory. Then we have something concrete to talk about. Otherwise it's just hypotheticals and (in my humble opinion) bluff
! -
@Jip I dont know how often i have to say this is not a balance or impactful thing. Its QoL. So obviously there is no data. How would I collect this? Ask players how they are feeling after playing UEF?
Since pathfinding is a skill issue, i guess everyone is schizo
