As with all the made up rules for the Forged Alliance Forever client, the rules apply to some but not to all.

In the case of this renaming rule debacle, take some of these current SNF clan members. The most active of these players have all changed their names to various other members, and not just the members from within the clan but outside the clan too. This is completely fine apparently.

According to my sources, it's fine because they are just "joking". My source being someone who has suffered the consequences of this bias rule

I stand with Nuggets in principle, that this rule is nonsensical essentially. I see 0 harm in renaming to someone else or similar. I mean how do you change your name to someone else's anyway when presumably the name is taken.

Everyone should be required to use their legal name on FAF. Stop using all your weird fake names.

@thomashiatt What's weird is that you're active in a forum for a game you don't play

So I randomly stumbled upon this again, because someone upvoted me and I got a notification.
I like how we were here, every non-moderator kind of agreed with my initial take on this, and the next thing that happens was Gieb's post with making the rule even more strict. As the moderators keep saying they are open to feedback and adjusting things, I'd like to put this back into memory. Mainly because, even though this is 1 year old, this topic is still very annoying.

May I then correct your memory if you wish to bring it back up and by doing so also claim incorrect things.

Maybe I went a bit over the top with my comment, but I feel the core was correct. The initial point of this topic was declined, and while feedback is taken into account (otherwise we would have longer rename periods), it still, at the very least in this topic, cant be seen in the resulting rule change regarding this

Don't confuse lack of opposing opinions as absolute stance for your arguments. The majority of people don't participate in these kind of discussions. I am
completely against changing names because I see no value for the community as a whole. I personally find it is annoying to but be able to recognize people. But I get that some people want it every now and then... but that might be sufficient like one a year in my opinion.

He said, "I've been to the year 3000
Not much has changed, but they live underwater
                          And your great-great-great-granddaughter
                          Is playin' FAF, playin' FAF"

Yeah I know and recognize that posting my stuff here does not mean this HAS to be the outcome of something. Regardless, the rename thread is the perfect example of people discussing here to change / lower the rule, and suddenly it gets more strict and then SLIGHTLY less strict after, once again, huge backlash while not addressing the core issues. It is the way FAF wants to have the rules which is a big issue.
Very broad and very easy to use rules. Sounds good on paper, but is bad when being applied.

The fact that you dont get why "we" want a faster rename period just shows that you dont play this game usually / in tourneys.
