The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!
Our steam linking enforcement did change recently as part of our upgrade to the login mechanism. It's now required for all accounts to be linked to steam (it used to be that really old accounts including yours were exempt). If you have a CD version of the game you can use it to redeem a copy of the steam version as well so this should not be a problem. You will need to link through the faforever.com website.
I am investigating why this is happening to some users and actually just made a beta release aimed at resolving this which you can try. You can download it here https://github.com/FAForever/downlords-faf-client/releases/tag/v2021.10.0-beta. Let me know if it works for you
Note that simspeed++ has barely any effect anymore after the cybran drones being significantly more performant since the last patch - it is essentially obsolete at this point
solved, i had it on an M2 SSD Drive and i moved it to a normal SSD which is also the boot drive now, it works like a charm.
Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience
Well, I guess I got no other choice then to just play something else. I don't really have the patience to go through my entire computer to figure out some issue with the FAF client.
@fuserr said in error during login:
situation solved by installing client v1.6 beta.
You wouldn't happen to have the download page for 1.6 beta? I am having the exact same issue and already tried ways to fix it.
Hey, so I just wanted to let you know that I got a response from moderation. Its all good now, it was just a simple mistake. So I am unbanned and enjoying FAF again. Thanks again for the quick responses.
I've locked this topic. From now on if you have such an issue please send me a forum PM with the accounts involved so that I may help you out. @KamauWarrior1 included
