The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!

    • RE: Dual Gap Slots Help!

      @femboy

      1. Top Air: typically spams t1 until bottom air gets t3, but not necessarily; in charge of getting radar, and also SMD in time before enemy Eco can destroy everyone in top
      2. (Upper) mid: goes to the upper lane in mid. Land focus, but will often start with air fac to get engies in mid in time. Playstyle depends on individual.
      3. Mid: handles the "true" mid lane, his survival often depends on Navy even if he wins his slot. Can and probably will start with air fac like the other mid player
      4. Navy: as the name says
      5. Eco: as the name says, is supposed to handle late-game and is responsible for winning (or losing) the match when it gets to that stage
      6. Bottom Air: in charge of getting t3 air faster than the enemy team and possibly win the game or cripple them with strat(s), or at the very least getting asfs out in time for enemy strats; also in charge of radar for bottom. Might give t2/t3 engies to eco/rest of team to help, but this will necessarily delay his own progression.

Variations and other strategies are always possible (t2 air spam to win, double/triple navy, eco/navy ACUs to mid.), especially when playing with friends/people you know (also see: stacked teams, a reason why most mid-to-high level games use opti).

I'll let someone else tell you about the True Masters because I wouldn't know.

One important thing to know is who gets what rocks: it's generally rude to eat rocks that don't belong to you (not to mention entirely harmful to your team on the whole), and I have seen high level players just quit minutes into the game because their rocks were being stolen/trees knocked down. If you prepare any pic with the rocks marked I'll tell who they belong to.

    • RE: Should I stay or should I Go?

Thanks as always for the very interesting write up.

It seems to me that ice4j is a dead end, but are you actually willing to learn Go?

Even if everyone on the forum (aka roughly 3% of FAF players) agrees that it's the way to go, nobody can force you to learn a new language that you might or might not be interested in.

But it does sound like it might be the solution we (desperately?) need. Or perhaps there is some other option?

As an aside, your title made me really worried for a hot minute!!

    • RE: I feel like Czar's crash is more important than its' weapons

@sladow-noob said in I feel like Czar's crash is more important than its' weapons:

If your opponent attacks with ASF, you groundfire and all the ASF get a huge amount of damage (Stack 2 czars, groundfire and every single ASF will die by flying through the beam).

Pretty sure that was nerfed back in 2015, patch notes for 3650 mentions it.

    • RE: Translating Seraphim units

Nothing is stopping you from making a mod to change the name of their units if you want to, but I highly doubt it will be officially integrated into FAF if that's what you were asking for.

Personally, I don't think there's much of a point in giving them human-readable names, it's part of the faction alien flavor.

    • RE: Suggestions & Recommendations

Thank you for the explanation Jip, but I have to disagree with your conclusion that these threads are harmful: what you just said was never mentioned anywhere and now it's readily available on the forums, where it can be read by anyone. If the guy went to discord and never made this thread, that info would remain there.

Now if someone else has the same suggestion they can see here that it was already mentioned and why it's not viable.

and I don't know why everyone's been so hostile lately.

I have to agree and was going to post something similar myself, so thanks for doing it.

Misunderstandings can always happen but it would be good sometimes to take a moment and realize "I didn't read this properly" rather than pointing fingers and saying "you didn't explain this properly".

Or, when in doubt, just ask for an explanation, like Jip said.

Let's try to keep hostilities for when we are playing, shall we?

    • RE: Why would you have left FAF?

I just want newer players (or older ones that forgot) to know that ICE used to allow people to reconnect (fairly) reliably and that a new version of ICE is being developed-but because of malicious third parties work on that is being delayed.

I'm not sure if it was better before when Gap of Rohan was prevalent?

Either way, why aren't you using the matchmaker if you don't want to host your own maps/play lobby sim?

3v3 is pure mapgen and fills reasonably fast.

      Yes, these missions are hard.
I'd recommend playing offline so you can save & load and also pause.

But bottom line, if you are hating it, no reason to harm yourself, play something else.

Deribus and Jip, he already said he lowered the difficulty to easy.

    • RE: Where to check my violations?

Just to clarify, and going with what you said, that violation was simply for quitting out of ladder: there is a system in place that penalizes those that quit from a launched game, as this effectively prevents whoever else was matched to play. Either way, and especially since you didn't want to use the matchmaker, don't worry about it: this system is just to prevent repeat offenders from making the matchmaker unplayable.
