    RE: Do not add new colors - discussion

    Foreword I have no idea if any of this is possible: one solution might be for enemy units to have a different line colour on their map markers.

    e.g it is a style where the differentiation is mainly on separation of enemies from allies in large scale conflict.

    Icons with distinct team based outlines, but flat internal colours, e.g the light icons are team 1 vs the dark icons team 2. This would have the added advantage of being able to use black as a colour.

    Alternatively, ALL enemy units are given the same line colour (e.g red or something chosen by a player), but have distinct inner colours. Having a different outline for an enemy can potentially help to distinguish an enemy dark green from a friendly teal.

    Here is the current grey, but with a few red lines which would indicate grey enemies.

    There is an in game setting called "UI Scale" which will make it easier to see more icons at one time, so that you don't need to scroll across to see every structure.

    Change the percentage until you can see clearly.

    Not in a game, but can't join queues after losing connection.

    I was playing a custom game but lost connection (network hardware issue). I exited SupCom and returned to the matchmaking screen under the 'Play' tab, but it says "Can't join queues while you are in game" - the game isn't even open.

    I was able to fix it by logging out of FAF and opening the client again.

    I restarted my PC and changed to a different sound device (didn't need to change anything in bios). So far this has solved the issue.

    I realised later that the mod wasn't actually selected, it was just displayed in the list.

    Yes it does.

    Even when clicking 'Deselect all mods' I could not remove this one from the list.

    In game sounds stop working randomly

    Some of the in game sounds and music have stopped working unexpectedly. This has never happened until today, I haven't installed or updated any new drivers recently. I first noticed it while watching a replay earlier, and all replays since.

    I usually have a replay in the background on one monitor while doing things on the other monitor. The game runs in a borderless window (I have always run FAF this way without issues).

    Sound effects like gunfire, explosions, map pings, even the UI and main menu sounds will stop working (UI sounds seem to start and stop working randomly), but I can hear units when they start to move or build, or when engineers and commanders finish building a structure. In game music will also cut in and out.

    Other sounds and music on my computer continue to run smoothly while supcom is open.

    I ran a file integrity check on supcom through steam which didn't make a difference, not really sure what else I can do besides reinstall? Is there a process to back up the mods/maps I've downloaded?

    edit: To clarify, these were replays run through the FAF client under the 'Live Games' tab.

    I also just tested a quick solo game, and it seems like each 'type' of sound will happen the first three or four times before it stops working e.g

    • I can build a few structures, then the construction sound stop working
    • Give a move order, and then at the next move order the ACU doesn't make any walking sound
    • Fire at a few enemies before all weapons stop making sound
    • Blow a few things up until you suddenly can't hear any explosions
    • etc

    You could make it so that you only keep playing after your ACU dies if you have at least one SCU. That would stop Rambo com at least until the T3 stage.

    I still wouldn't play this mode though. I like shorter games.

    This makes the most sense to me. The commander is still fragile and valuable until the late game where SCUs come into play. More SCUs make the player harder to snipe because an SCU can take over the 'commander' role, but Players still lose something important if the ACU dies (certain upgrades and things like telemaser attacks).

    It would probably get out of hand though. I see some hourlong games where people never build SCUs, and others where people have 30 or 40 of them.

    Remove abusive observers after death.

    Dead observers with poor connections quality can cause games to keep lagging, but if it isn't bad enough to bring up the disconnect prompt, then they can't be kicked.

    Can there be features added to remove observers if they disrupt the game? This can also be helpful for people who spam chat or misuse pings and markers after dying. I expect it would need to be limited to that person's team.
