My biggest issues with the engine are:

        1. Pier-to-pier connections (can't play properly with ANZ)
        2. 0.5 second order delay (can't micro)
        3. Players can have different UI mods (not very competitive, and players can secretly have cheating mods; in BAR, you can just disallow them for tournaments)

Unless a superintelligent AI remakes the engine soon, I have no hope for the future of the project.

Bruh... Another guy that doesn't believe in future of FAF! You know, instead of yapping people do and make things possible. I've been REing engine for around a year and if there were more than 0.5 people interested than there would be reversed all significant parts of it.

FAF is what it is and there are many who love it for what it is. The dev support is amazing considering what FAF is. I personally don't think any modern game will ever touch what FAF is and as such I have high hopes for the future of this project.

I am not familiar with any cheating mods and cant imagine how a cheater would go unnoticed in this game but that's not my realm. As for the various UI mods those are available to all and most people don't use to many of them because they don't want to. I know of a 2k player who doesn't even use hotkeys (which is insane to me) so its a large stretch to suggest that UI mods give people advantages that others don't have. If that 2k decided to use hotkeys then he is probably a 3k in a few days...or maybe he is a 1.6k in a few days because his brain isn't wired that way lol

@Kilatamoro Just because you can't micro with 0.5s delay doesn't mean nobody can. I remember Zock killing two tanks and a few engies with a mech marine.

Also please note that people working on the game develop game logic, not game engineer. There are completely different sets of skills and experience.

              Is playin' FAF, playin' FAF"

I say we invade BAR and play with x2 ranges. Similar experience. Maybe we could even make our own mod to balance x2 ranges + other changes.

Downvote me into oblivion, but I moved there. Tiny ranges are my biggest issue with the game though, the 2nd is how everything explodes and chains easily. This could also be fixed. Modding is still not great, but it works.

Square Enix is copyright holder Supreme commander. Over the many years of FAF's existence, has anyone attempted to reach an agreement? For example, ask for money for a remaster? FAF's audience is 1 million players, I think that's enough for you to be taken seriously. Square Enix funds Indie Projects. Maybe write to Square Enix Collective? Square Enix is a big company and it has many "towers", both small and large.

Yes, we have attempted to reach out to Square Enix. They have shown no interest in wanting to talk to us, much less give us money.

BAR devs say that, even though mods are not a priority right now, the game will be very moddable (especially if we help). And we already can edit unit stats to our liking. So why not "import" SupCom into BAR? (But without importing 3D models.) Mechanics there are a bit different, but there are things I would not change (because they are cool). Things like:

                            • 100% friendly fire [while units don't intentionally shoot friendly units in the back, only by accident]
                            • Deformable terrain
                            • Hills obstruct radar coverage
                            • Units don't generally shoot hills

I play both games. I like SupCom's style, but BAR's implementation is better. In BAR, I rarely encounter lags or disconnects (and you can easily reconnect); anything can be fixed (hello, lost source code); moderation reacts within days compared to months here; can properly mute people (including markers); can hide your country; the game is free (new players) and open source.

Didn't someone import Total Annihilation into FAF some time ago? Why not import SupCom into BAR?

Because doing that is going to end in BAR getting a cease and desist from Square Enix for using their platform to give away their IP for free.

@FtXCommando What IP? We won't even rename units, and keep BAR's 3D models.

You obviously can’t do that when BAR is missing a whole tech level, new models will need to exist.

Don’t see the point in porting over a game that plays differently, is called differently, and looks differently. Just create a new game at that point.

Would adding the same Steam integration game check requirement solve this? I suppose the question is really to Square Enix who aren't predictable.

@Defiant Why would anyone want this? It's about the feeling of the game, not 3D models and unit names. We can get free from copyright.

Why doesn't Square Enix touch faf now?
The rights to the game and therefore the income from sales belong to Nordic Games. Square enix doest make any money from the game.

                                          Reasonable.

Games similar to FAF are out there now. A more direct FAF clone might still risk Square Enix, so we could give them license accountability.
