@personne Unfortunately, the majority of FAF infrastructure has been under near-constant DDOS attacks since the end of September/beginning of October. A lot of measures have been taken to mitigate those attacks, but they're still happening & not all are able to be dealt with. The hardest hit systems now are the Coturn servers, which are used to assist with making connections between players when a stable P2P connection can't be established. At this time, there's only 1 Cotrun (labeled Global) that is having better success than the others because it's a 3rd party service with some additional protections.
With all that said, here are the current best suggestions for helping with connection issues:
In the FAF client, go to the top left menu > Settings:
- General > Write ICE Log File > check,
- Forged Alliance Forever > Use FAF Debugger when starting Forged Alliance > check > click "Get the latest version of the debugger",
- Allow the ICE adapter to use IPv6 > unchecked,
- Preferred Coturns for ICE > select only Global,
Next, quit the client (check Task Manager). Once it's completely closed, open the client again & play.
The next time you join a game & have connection issues, please click the Reply button at the bottom between the (View) icon & the "Mark unread" button. Next, go to client > top left menu > Show logs folder > logs > sort by Date Modified, then drag/drop these files into the Reply message window so those that can help (not me) have that data to look at:
- client.log file (the Text Document file without the date),
- ice-adapter.log & advanced-ice-adapter.log (both in a separate folder)
@quietjoy With regards to modifying some unit properties, I'd suggest having a look at Balthazar's SupCom Mod Tutorials Wiki. Balthazar is the creator of the popular BrewLAN mod & is very active in the community.
Just tip the balance to the faction since that's the best faction already.
Problem solved.
@rama Please pass this along to whomever you got this from:
All versions of SCFA hates Alt+Tab or other things that take focus away while playing in fullscreen, so if you're going to do that, then it's highly recommended that you play in Windowed. There are programs like Borderless Gaming or scripts like one of the ones in this FAF forum thread to make the window fit the entire screen so it appears that you're playing in fullscreen even though you're not.
@nicholasporan Not to be rude, but are you getting your info from ChatGPT?
The only thing that is correct from your post is item 1, with the exception that the FAF Client would be listed as faf-client.exe, not faf-launcher.exe. As for points 2 & 3, there is no such thing as a FAF Overlay & the logs are found in a users AppData folder, not in the either the FAF Client or FAF game data folders.
@Sheikah Can you please make the Steam overlay integration a user toggleable option instead of it always being on?
The reason I ask is because I don't play FAF, but I'm always around the FAF community to help others which often requires me to have the client open while I also have Steam running & open to help people in that community too. Since I'm not actually playing FAF but frequently have both the FAF client & Steam open, I don't want my play time altered unless I'm actually playing.
I like the idea of this feature, but it should either be a user toggleable option or only be triggered when creating or joining a game from the client.
Thanks.
As to the 2nd question about making tweaks to a generated map, yes, you can make any tweaks you want; however, this new version is going to be for your personal use or for those that you share it with as NO generated maps (even with tweaks) are to be uploaded to the Maps vault.
I haven't tested in FAF, but in LOUD, I can just drag the assist order to a non-factory structure like a pgen, mass extractor, etc.. This results in that factory producing units from its own queue & not resuming assisting the other factory afterwards. In fact, you can continue to add units to the queue & just leave the assist order attached to the non-factory structure.
Edit: I just tested in a sandbox & this can also be done if FAF.
There's a keybind called "Stop and cancel all factory orders except the current one". This works for factories & engineers.

@the-lich-king Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). In the Discord app > Settings > My Account, it's called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
@brainsalad Just to be clear, you're talking about the current release version of the FAF Client 2024.3.0, correct?
If so, then try clearing your browser cache or temporarily changing your Default Browser in Windows Settings. If neither of those suggestions helps, then you may need to add exceptions/exclusions for the FAF Client to both the active scan section & firewall section of your Anti-Virus software & Windows Security.
@thepirate You can still get into the client by pressing OK on the prompt. After you'r logged in, either create a new folder for where FAF will store your maps/mods, such as in the FAF Data Location itself (default is C:\ProgramData\FAForever), a folder at the root of your main drive or on an external drive, & then go to FAF client > top left menu > Settings > Forged Alliance Forever > Maps and Mods Location > Choose... & select the folder you just created or select an already existing folder that isn't on OneDrive.
@zoodoo4u You used to be able to hold Ctrl while using your mouse scroll wheel to change the size, but that's no longer an option. It has been mentioned already, but it's unknown if that function will return or if an alternative replacement will be introduced.
@goblinsly2 This is the link for the testing that was done for the new benchmarking system in Spring 2022, but it appears that the spreadsheet is no longer accessible.
@humannamedaziz Step 2 in my first post.
@treos It's a known issue which Game Dev Lead Jip is looking into.

@mr_krikin Running the client as Administrator is just setting yourself up for issues, so I'd suggest to completely un-install the FAF Client & start from scratch:
- Use Run (Windows+R) to open this directory:
%USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
- Copy/paste the
game.prefs
file somewhere safe, then close the folder. - Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > right+click on FAF Client > select Uninstall/Change > click "Delete metadata like settings and game files" in the uninstaller & proceed.
- Make sure your vanilla SCFA install (Steam, GOG, CD/DVD) is working correctly. If it's not, then stop here & troubleshoot until it is.
- If your vanilla SCFA install is working correctly, then re-install the FAF Client.
- Try opening the client.
There have been a few players recently that had an issue in which the client did open, but it opened with the window size being very small it was sometimes unseen. If you see the client icon active in the taskbar but can't see the window, then this is probably the issue you're having. If so, then:
- Close the client via Task Manager
- Use Run to open this directory:
%USERPROFILE%/AppData\Roaming\Forged Alliance Forever\
- Open the
client.prefs
file in a text editor - Find the section
mainWindow
& adjust the parameters as needed. - Save & re-open the client.
I made a mod called Additional Game Speed Keybinds which adds a key bind to toggle wld_RunWithTheWind
so you don't need to enter the console.
It's also got key binds to jump right to +/- 10 as well as key binds to increase/decrease the speed in increments of 3
