RE: Game UI is not right
@Accidental_Aeon Alt + Up Arrow [Rotate layouts up] or Alt + Down Arrow [Rotate layouts down] will cycle through the different UI layouts to get the commands panel back to the bottom left corner so you can see the target priorities list again.

RE: Unbearable disconnection
@personne Unfortunately, the majority of FAF infrastructure has been under near-constant DDOS attacks since the end of September/beginning of October. A lot of measures have been taken to mitigate those attacks, but they're still happening & not all are able to be dealt with. The hardest hit systems now are the Coturn servers, which are used to assist with making connections between players when a stable P2P connection can't be established. At this time, there's only 1 Cotrun (labeled Global) that is having better success than the others because it's a 3rd party service with some additional protections.
With all that said, here are the current best suggestions for helping with connection issues:
In the FAF client, go to the top left menu > Settings:
- General > Write ICE Log File > check,
- Forged Alliance Forever > Use FAF Debugger when starting Forged Alliance > check > click "Get the latest version of the debugger",
- Allow the ICE adapter to use IPv6 > unchecked,
- Preferred Coturns for ICE > select only Global,
Next, quit the client (check Task Manager). Once it's completely closed, open the client again & play.
The next time you join a game & have connection issues, please click the Reply button at the bottom between the (View) icon & the "Mark unread" button. Next, go to client > top left menu > Show logs folder > logs > sort by Date Modified, then drag/drop these files into the Reply message window so those that can help (not me) have that data to look at:
- client.log file (the Text Document file without the date),
- ice-adapter.log & advanced-ice-adapter.log (both in a separate folder)

RE: FAF client always opens in a small window
@melanol Great. I asked because I know recently that a minimum window size was added recently to avoid the client from opening as about only the size of the window function buttons in the top right. It sounds like your client may be opening as that minimum size instead of sticking to the parameters set the last time you had it opened.
I would suggest that you go to FAF Client > top left menu > Show log folder > close client > open client.prefs in text editor > find section mainWindow > modify
width
,height
&maximized
> save (make sure it's saved as client.prefs) > re-open client. -
RE: Where's the best beginner how to mod tutorial?
@quietjoy With regards to modifying some unit properties, I'd suggest having a look at Balthazar's SupCom Mod Tutorials Wiki. Balthazar is the creator of the popular BrewLAN mod & is very active in the community.

RE: How many Aeon players are there in the balance team?
Just tip the balance to the faction since that's the best faction already.
Problem solved.

RE: Alt-Tabbing Crashes Game
@rama Please pass this along to whomever you got this from:
All versions of SCFA hates Alt+Tab or other things that take focus away while playing in fullscreen, so if you're going to do that, then it's highly recommended that you play in Windowed. There are programs like Borderless Gaming or scripts like one of the ones in this FAF forum thread to make the window fit the entire screen so it appears that you're playing in fullscreen even though you're not.

RE: How do I know FAF has loaded/is working?
@nicholasporan Not to be rude, but are you getting your info from ChatGPT?
The only thing that is correct from your post is item 1, with the exception that the FAF Client would be listed as faf-client.exe, not faf-launcher.exe. As for points 2 & 3, there is no such thing as a FAF Overlay & the logs are found in a users AppData folder, not in the either the FAF Client or FAF game data folders.

RE: Client 2022.6.0 Features
@Sheikah Can you please make the Steam overlay integration a user toggleable option instead of it always being on?
The reason I ask is because I don't play FAF, but I'm always around the FAF community to help others which often requires me to have the client open while I also have Steam running & open to help people in that community too. Since I'm not actually playing FAF but frequently have both the FAF client & Steam open, I don't want my play time altered unless I'm actually playing.
I like the idea of this feature, but it should either be a user toggleable option or only be triggered when creating or joining a game from the client.
Thanks.

RE: Unassisting one factory with onather shouldn't kill current cue
I haven't tested in FAF, but in LOUD, I can just drag the assist order to a non-factory structure like a pgen, mass extractor, etc.. This results in that factory producing units from its own queue & not resuming assisting the other factory afterwards. In fact, you can continue to add units to the queue & just leave the assist order attached to the non-factory structure.
Edit: I just tested in a sandbox & this can also be done if FAF.

RE: Sudden Crash, Happened a Few Time
@rama First, I would suggest that if you're using Windows, then please go to FAF client > top left menu > Settings > Forged Alliance Forever > Use FAF Debugger when starting Forged Alliance > > click "Get the latest version of the debugger". This will create a more detailed log to assist with troubleshooting.
Second, You have a sound bug which you can tell by the SND/XACT warnings. Simple fix steps are:
- Windows key > type: Control Panel > Open > Sound > Playback > select the Device you use:
- Configure > Stereo > finish configuration,
- Properties:
- Enhancements > Disable all enhancements,
- Advanced > 16 bit, 44100 Hz,
- Spatial Sound > Off,
- Restart or Shift+Shutdown (not just Shutdown) of PC
If your headphones come with any applet/program, then you may want to disable that & try using the headphones without it. Similarly, if they use a USB or Bluetooth dongle to connect to the PC, see if you can connect directly without the dongle.
See this thread for further troubleshooting: https://forum.faforever.com/topic/4084/solutions-for-snd-error-xact-invalid-arg-xact3dapply-failed
Third, all versions of SCFA hates Alt+Tab or other things that take focus away while playing in full screen as indicated by the line
info: Minimized true
in your log, so if you're going to do that, then it's highly recommended that you play in Windowed (if you're not already doing so). There are programs like Borderless Gaming or scripts like one of the ones in this FAF forum thread to make the window fit the entire screen so it appears that you're playing in full screen even though you're not.Forth, after taking the corrective actions stated above, please try playing with all mods disabled in both the FAF Client & the in-game lobby to ensure that your base FAF game is working correctly. If you still crash with all mods disabled in both locations, then please post the new game log & replay# for those that can help to have for review.

RE: Can't kick observer as host, game hangs (crashes) on start
@caipirinhapilot First, I would suggest that if you're using Windows, then please go to FAF client > top left menu > Settings > Forged Alliance Forever > Use FAF Debugger when starting Forged Alliance > > click "Get the latest version of the debugger". This will create a more detailed log to assist with troubleshooting.
Second, please click the Reply button at the bottom between the (View) icon & the "Mark unread" button. Next, please go to client > top left menu > Show logs folder > logs > sort by Date Modified. From there, drag/drop your most recent game_2xxxxxxx.log file (or whichever was from the last game that crashed due to the observer issue) into the Reply message window so those that can help (not me) have that data to look at.
@Jip Do you know if this issue has been addressed yet?

RE: An idea please ? I have this error again and again and again i cant launch nothing...
IIRC, this error is due to corrupted FAF game files. The only way to correct it is to delete those & let the client download them again when creating or joining a game. The easiest way to do this is FAF Client > top left menu > Show data folder > right-click
FAForever
folder > hold Shift > select Delete > confirm pop-up to permanently delete the folder > create of join a game from the FAF Client -

RE: game won't start
@charc0b Do you have Citrix software or Sophos VPN installed?
If so, then you need to uninstall them for any version of SCFA to work, vanilla or FAF.
-
RE: game won't start
@charc0b I'd start by adding an exclusion/exception for the FAF Client in the active scan & firewall sections of their AV software & Windows Security.
If that doesn't work, then try a VPN.
