Stepping away from FAF — permanently
-
Hey all,
After a lot of thought, I've decided to step away from the FAF community for good. I'm submitting a request for my account to be deleted, and this post is to make that clear and give some closure on the projects I've been part of.
A few things worth noting:
All work I've contributed from this point forward should be considered withdrawn. Please don't continue to use, deploy, or build on anything I hand over or push after this post — treat it as unsupported and remove it where practical.
This includes any in-progress work on FAF-Cartographer, FAF-Newsfeed, the patch notes tooling, FAF Daily, and related contributions. Maintainers/leads for these projects should treat my involvement as ended and plan accordingly for continuity without me.
I won't be available for questions, handovers, or support on this work going forward. Thanks to everyone I've worked with and gotten to know here over the years — it's been a genuinely good community to be part of, and I don't take that lightly. This isn't a decision made lightly either, just one I need to make right now.
If anyone wants to talk, feel free to add me on Discord or GitHub.
Take care, all the best to the community going forward.

Thanks for all your hard work over the years. I wish you the best with your future projects, and you will always be welcome to come back and play FAF.

Was nice seeing you for the couple of weeks being back. Shame about the entire scorched earth thing, but it is what it is.
Good luck to your future endeavors.Just want to clarify here though that none of the FAF daily was made or worked on by Rowey.

Thank you so much for your work all these years!

Is "please don't use anything I contributed, thanks" even a legal thing in the open source community? I am sure there are guard lines from contributors going nuts, since there are for their death: that's the whole point of "anyone can contribute".

He mentioned that it's anything he contributed "after this post", and to "treat it as unsupported and remove it where practical." I don't think he meant anything bad, just asking for people to take care of the maintenance/cleanup.

Well considering he took (or is taking) everything down, I do not think that is the case.
