Personal Trainer Team Meeting | 18/04/25
Hey everyone, another PT meeting! This one can be deemed quite important if you're fond of CGN and future Trainer Team news:
Strydxr’s absence from 19/04/25 - ??? Strydxr will be gone on leave after the CGN of 19/04/25 to pursue his dreams of being unemployed with a CompSci degree. He will be gone for around two months. He has full faith the Personal Trainer team basically runs itself, and nothing will change. Team Lead Meetings, who’s going to represent us there? Razana volunteers to handle the Team Lead meetings. Strydxr will alert the other Team Leads + Board. Sera also volunteers, potentially alternating. Beginner Guide Feedback session - Pretty big success - People recognise the guide and it’s usefulness - Promotion went well Razana: - Prolonging deadline may result in a smoother experience for all parties - Urge people to put forward their drafts quicker to allow more time for feedback and formatting - Concerns about cohesiveness when we’re on a time crunch, may affect final product Maudlin: “Seemed a very short time between it being posted for review/feedback and being announced as done to the community (IIRC was about a day) - would suggest soft publishing next time, giving a couple of days for people to look at, before announcing” Mui: - Wasn’t very involved - Wishes to contribute more - Maybe more suited to the team game sections Sera: - Aware of his content potentially being better suited to Intermediate - Based on Naval fundamentals Intermediate Guide Strydxr is confident to leave this in the hands of the Veteran and Experienced Trainers. Razana is the appointed Project Team Lead. Community Game Night Mui, Razana and Seraphim all volunteer to host CGN. Updated Heaven Playlist - Paradox Paradox was offered to take this as he knows the Heaven guides more than Strydxr. He accepted and will work on this in his own time, Is it time to start the Mapgen guides? Probably not the time, and the scope of Mapgen is massive, so perhaps keeping it to 3v3 only would be ideal. It will be the length of the bible, and probably as religiously followed as the bible too. Team game stuff in general is on Q3/Q4 of the year. Trainer Team Night Will not be mandatory, just a nice night for Trainers to socialise, new Trainers are encouraged to come socialise, Paradox Games, TTS, other party games. Trainer Team Feedback Razana: Feels like more things have happened compared to other Team Leads Appreciates Forum post transparency Grimplex: Smiles and Laughs, as per usual Seraphim: Pretty much the same as Razana Thinks the forced change within the team was a good idea Misc Notes: Grimplex suggested looking into the BAR Apprentice Tournament Seraphim wishes to get Trainer Events started at some point Razana wants to use CGN Momentum to fuel Trainer Events Attendees: Strydxr Razana Mui Seraphim-Noob Maudlin Grimplex ```

Trainer Team 2025 - The Wiki | Part One
Hello everyone, it is with great pride that I get to say that we've finished two of our objectives within modernizing the Learning Supcom page of the wiki. This started with us having several meetings to highlight what some of the issues were with the wiki, such as it's lack of maintenance and proper structure like most other wiki's would have. Which brings me to the first objective.
We have changed the structure of the Learning Supcom page, which included us having a proper flow of information (see meeting notes regarding the topic), and removing what redundant guides and information we could. You can currently see the difference by first looking at the new page and then looking at the archive. I think we did a great job, let us know what you think!
Although, there has been another significant development. The Personal Trainer Team had begun it's first team project, the Beginner 1v1 Guide. We have had several meetings to get to this point, and several Trainers have gone above and beyond for this guide to become what it is today.
I'd like to express my gratitude to @Sladow-Noob, @Razana, @Paradox_of_War and @Seraphim-Noob for their amazing contributions to this guide, and I hope they get the full credit they deserve for each and every read of this guide.I'd also like to thank those who have given me feedback throughout it's development, it was taken back and we actively considered each and every suggestion
That's enough from me friends, thank you for everything, and being an amazing community we can contentiously give back to!

RE: Add the Tombstones from the 2025 April Fool's Update as a Permanent Feature
I think I can speak from a lot of people's perspective on behalf of the CGN folk, the Tombstones were a killer addition and we all loved them, it added a bit of extra comedy to the game that everyone from all levels of skill participation enjoyed. I'd like for them to be an option, or see some use in the future.

Personal Trainer Meeting | 16/02/25
Hey everyone, the Personal Trainer team had another meeting to discuss some important changes that will be coming soon, particularly to the FAF Wiki! Please read them below if you're interested in what those proposed changes are:
Aim: - make wiki formatting consistent and modernised, including the FAF Home Page - Sera suggests 4 big rectangles (1v1 2v2 3v3 and teamgames), helps clarify and make it more clear, hence reformatting the whole page - keep getting feedback from people who have no idea about FAF. - Video guides will take priority to showcase a more proactive approach to new players, with text guides being written in the background to ensure future proofing. - Increased promotions of the wiki - Put some ‘alternative’ training resources onto the wiki (Dojo, Strydxr Tournament Discord) - Razana suggests a quickstart guide to help new players when they read the wiki, allowing for an easier learning period when they first start FAF, Dwarf Fortress quick start guide for reference, merge with willow’s video idea to create a good written guide and a good video guide, covering both basis) - All welcome lobbies are less prevalent, could Trainer utilise this? Proposed Format for the Learning Supcom wiki webpage: 1. Essential Beginner Information (openers, Basic decision-making and APM. Unit Orders. FAF Guide – in depth explanations of basic faf concepts) (Willow suggests making this into a video, probably with chapters to help new players remain attentive and willing to move onto the next categories) 2. In-Game Basics (Economy Management, Hotkey Guide, UI Mods Guide) 3. 1v1 Guides 4. Trainer Resources | Replay Reviews, Training Chat, The Dojo 5. Popular Maps | Setons, Dualgap, Astro Crater 6. Self-Improvement (Integrating reclaim, transport rush, replay self analysis) 1v1 Guides (Option One) Beginner (0-500) | General 1v1 Guide Intermediate (500-1000) | General 1v1 Guide 1v1 Guides (Option Two) Beginner Concepts to a new 1v1 player Com Micro? Map concepts | 5x5, 10x10, 20x20 Map Breakdowns (Like Petric used to make) [19:05] Part 2 Game Modes (Option 1) 1v1 (branch off to a 1v1 guide list) 2v2 (same with 1v1) 3v3 (same with 1v1) 4v4 (same with 1v1) 5v5+ (same with 1v1) Game Modes (Option 2) 1v1 Small Teamgames (2v2 / 3v3) Big Teamgames (4v4+) Attendees: Strydxr Seraphim-Noob Razana WillowWisppsi Judoka
If you have any feedback or suggestions, regardless of player rank or contribution bias, please do post it here. It means a lot to us in the Trainer Team!

RE: My First Guide - The Keybind Guide
@TheWeakie I uh, genuinely didn't know you could do this, fair enough.

My First Guide - The Keybind Guide
Hello Everyone, as the title suggests I'd like to work on my first actual guide to contribute further to the FAF community as a whole. Currently, there is no known up to date key-bind guide that contains some of the more recently made innovations that weren't available years ago.
I'd like to fix this problem and make a semi future proof guide that can be easily maintained, although I'm no expert myself and often have to rely on others to learn about some of the more 'essential' key-binds of our time.
This is what this thread is about realistically, I'd like to approach the community about their essential key-binds, all ratings are welcome to contribute, but this is meant to be accessible to everyone, so make sure you include some sort of reasoning or understanding of how the function works
Thank you guys once again for enabling me to give more and more, means a lot
Some examples I am considering..
Selection:
- Select all land --> Select all land on screen
- Select All Gunships
- Select all air factories
- Select all land factories
- Select nearest onscreen lowest tech idle mass extractor
Queue:
- Stop and cancel all factory orders except the current one

Trainer Team - The First Major Wiki Edit!!
Hello Everyone, as we draw into mid February I decided to have a meeting with some members of the Personal Trainer Team to look into the wiki and how to improve it, here are some cliff notes:
General 1v1 guide - Shorten it down - Split it into categories (opener, map control) Removing: Faction 1v1 guides Heaven Video Guides (cherry pick the still relevant?) TheForgedAllianceColonel (removed) BRNK Zlo’s archive (removed) Blackheart’s 6 laws (the mindset stuff can still be useful) FAF Cliff Notes (maybe replace with the beginner – expert system?) Faction Information (could be rewritten) Engy Mod Added: Stage Comparison Chart Updated UI Mod for the improving player (replaced Blackheart’s old guide) Cheeseberry’s Eco Compendium
You can see the new changes here
Do not worry about the archived materials, for you can see them here
(Materials seen in both webpages are either being phased out soon or utilized to create a new guide)
I hope this first step brings you as much joy as it brings me, if you have any feedback or suggestions please feel free to leave them below!
Much thanks to @Sladow-Noob @WilloWisppsi @Razana and @Paradox_of_War (@hybrid_ too for sitting in and giving feedback)

RE: 1v1 Ladder
@waffelzNoob I believe the chat disconnect was the result of some issue related to the ddos incidents (what someone told me, grain of salt please.) I can see about having the command added back (15 ladder games a month subscription :kappa:

RE: 1v1 Ladder
@xclkvnspoijfoisn Main FAF discord is fine, I just didn't want to flood another currently existing project with this and not bother the mods consistently with changes and such.
Also 1v1 being dead can be traced to communication being bad and people not having the motivation to queue because they think no one else wants to, we have like 25 people from multiple rating ranges wanting to get games semi consistently, that's a good start -
RE: 1v1 Ladder
@Dorset Heya! I'm glad to see you taking a positive attitude to the 1v1 ladder grind. This discord contains people from 0-1900 ratings, with plenty of people at around your rating range, it's a relatively simple one or two text channels for now, and I'm always willing to help you learn Discord should you wish to. No pressure at all
-
RE: 1v1 Ladder
@IndexLibrorum I'm not a fan of budging into someone else's project and doing stuff like that, especially one I have.. weird feelings towards. And I'm unsure how the main FAF discord would work, this just seems easier.

RE: 1v1 Ladder
@IndexLibrorum No one high rated queues in the dojo ngl, I wanna cater to everyone, not just beginners
