you can add the line to game.prefs, but the in-game option, is options -> interface -> third line down

RE: Game UI is not right
The actions panel is usually to the left of the build queue on FAF. Perhaps you have something (mod) enabled that is putting it to the right. I couldn't find a built-in setting for this that i can recall, though there are ways to move these items around by modifying existing mods.
At any rate FAF at default settings put's that to the left of the build queue, so you may want to start there.

RE: 2D Sound
I've posted this previously on another post, but for me I have to install Equalizer APO. ( the other post specified my specific configuration, it takes a bit more than simply installing it to ensure it is working ) some trial and error might be required.
you can use the configuration editor to add a preamp to ensure it's working.
For the arctis 7 usb headset ( amongst others) that have their own quasi surround sound, this is the only method to fix this for me.
Even for this particular headset, disabling the 7.1 surround option, and setting it to 2.1 in windows has no effect.
A past version of their steel series software did not have this issue. I could set a profile to disable their surround setting for specific exe, but past a certain update, it stopped working, and uninstalling their software all together had no effect ( i suppose maybe it did something firmware wise on the headset, but who knows )
At any rate, there are some pretty nice addons for this software, PEACE GUI. there is also a 7.1 surround add-on called Hesuvi and with some tinkering you can switch back and forth from 2.1 to 7.1 profiles, but that is a lot more advanced and has it's own issues.hopefully this helps.

RE: Redux Strategic Icons
You will have to use ui_strategicscalesize command. Can no longer use nxt files.
I'm not sure if this affects un scouted icons though.

RE: Kyro's lobby - updated
oh yeah. i was messing about with the LOC values because originally there were none used by the column labels, but it didn't work for the chinese characters. it was mostly me just seeing if it worked. i had forgotten completely about it and am not even sure the translation is correct.
otherwise thanks for putting up the github. i wasn't really sure how to go about it, or even make use of it, but hopefully this gives others an avenue for fixing it properly.

RE: EcoManager still broken? (can't turn off throttling)
you may want to try eco ui tools instead, you'll have to set it up in the ui mods tools options for it to work, but it's pretty close , with exception of no single click to upgrade, but assisting with engies will work same way, and you can just click unpause button to start the upgrade after selecting it if not doing it via engie.
or you can try this version with the ECO throttling and nuke overlays stripped out. it only does mex upgrades.

actually this one has EM with everything but the throttling is disabled

RE: Redux Strategic Icons
I'll have to take a look as I'm not sure what you mean. I didn't notice anything myself. I wasn't even aware anything changed on the mini map.
If it is a size issue then using the new link above rather than vault uses default size as opposed to what is in vault.
If you mean something else i need to know what that is.
-
RE: Redux Strategic Icons
which size were you using? i thought i had made them all gold for non selected, and white for selected, but perhaps i only did that on the 1440 size. But let me know which size regular, 1080, or 1440 and clarify if you wanted the selected to be red, or the non selected icon to show red, or both. Can't swear i'll get it to it immediately, but i'll throw up a link when i do.

RE: Redux Strategic Icons
this is partially preference. I prefer to be able to see Antiair and Point Defense at a glance. It is less of a concern which enemy they belong to, and more ( don't fly your asf's over the pink sams, they do have the player color as an outline ).
I have tried similar approaches that other mods do, with simple color outlines, but the issue that I find is that due to how the icons are compressed, the colors will look funny, or bleed into each other, OR they look great on one player color, but not another.
or they work great at larger size, but terrible at another size. It's a balancing act. I find that more pastel colors, such as lighter pink, and light tan for PD's do not look overpowering, but are prominent enough to show up. Some colors such as RED, i ran into issues using, or they don't contrast well when you have 16 player colors across the screen.
I don't have the best eye acuity, so having to zoom in just to see a tac, PD, antiair, etc was an issue for me.
For editing, consider using GIMP with dds plugin, or Photoshop. If you don't edit the channels/mask properly, you can wind up with artifacts that won't show up in the file, but will when the file is converted, depending on how you saved/edited/converted.
It took me too long to figure that out.You would preferably want the uncompressed versions, and use a conversion program to go to bc3/dxt5 after the fact. If it's gray, that is placeholder of player color. If you want an actual gray color, there is a RGB value that can be used, but i forget it at the moment.
If anyone wants the uncompressed files in various sizes, i would be happy to provide them. This is a blanket permission to use any of my icons how you see fit, but provide credit where credit is due. The T4 icons are from IKIT, so those are credit to him, with a few exceptions of my own.

RE: Knowing who writes in game
the texture file itself is in textures.scd\textures\ui\common\game\ping_marker\ping_marker-0#.dds but that is just for the web looking icon, the color created is simply a square. I made mine with just a simple white border so the color stands out more.
you would have to add whatever you make to something like advanced strategic icons.nxt for it to show up. For an example of mine.

note this would override that file in c:\programdata\faforever\gamedata if you are using another icon mod. If so you would need to copy that texture folder over to the existing file using a zip editor, or backup the file first if you just want to test it out.

RE: 2D Sound
https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/
Is the download site. Simply install it, and look for configurator in apo equalizer section on start menu.
When you run it, you'll see a list of every audio device. You should see steel series gaming headset or similar. Select it, by clicking the box to the left. I think you also need to highlight the connector name or the troubleshooting box won't show at bottom. Once it does check the box and select Install as SFX/EFX from the drop down menu, and then apply and restart.
Now you still need to ensure all the other stereo settings are correct and 3d settings are disabled where applicable.
Something that was problem for me was installing the Sonar App in the steel series control panel. It creates a sonar Virtual audio device that supposedly mimics 8 channel stereo, which is also not good for FAF, but the problem was it would default to that audio device instead of the default Steel Series Gaming audio. Disabling it from the steel series had no effect, it would just reenable itself even if i disabled the audio device in device manager. So just uninstall Sonar.
Also make sure the steel series control panel isn't defaulting to 7.1 audio.

RE: 2D Sound
I have the same issue with a steel series arctus 7. What works for me is APO equalizer. But you have to run the configurator, select the audio device, click troubleshooting and install as SFX/efx. This fixes it for me. There is a peace gui that can also be downloaded for a graphical equalizer that is nice. The downside is that nearly any Windows update forces you to rerun the configurator app.

RE: 2D Sound
Make sure 3d spatial sound or any Dolby etc for 3d are not enabled in sounds properties. This will also cause this.
If you are using a USB headset some off those may have their own control panel which will also have 3d settings that may require disabling.

RE: Reworked Strategic Icons
Very clean. I like the tmd icon. That is a hard one to differentiate at a glance without going wild, and i like the take on it.

RE: Updated Supreme Score Board (UI) Mod
if you rename the economy_mini.lua file in c:\users<user>\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods\SupremeScoreBoard\hook\lua\ui\game\layouts\ it will revert to the default FAF economy UI.
Or you might try the Scaled Resource Panel in vault, I believe i had to rename this file for me to be able to use both mods though.
I have not had any issues doing it this way.
