Where can I find a complete list of camera controls? I'm using the faf hotbuild preset I think? I want something like free look. I know ctrl v toggles that but I have no idea what it means and nothing I do seems to do anything in either mode. FAF preset dosent even see to have unit camera tracking/follow. I looked at the wiki but a lot of dead links. Is there an internal game file I could examine?

RE: M28AI Devlog (v161)
@maudlin27 Child units are not inheriting AI status. novax sats sit there, eggs, and fatboy outputs. FWIW

RE: M28AI Devlog (v161)
@maudlin27 It took forever to do the first analysis and every few seconds it froze. no replay, it was unplayable, also ai games don't get recorded, that's why I linked the map name so you could reproduce it. Also, I think the crab is bugged, egg units don't inherit AI status.

@maudlin27 FWIW neroxis_map_generator_1.12.3_jr5vbqk53twfc_aiiaeaq_aaaaaadg6msjk
(unexplored 20x20) 1v1 me vs ai really didn't like the map. Is this a known thing? perhaps because unexplored?

RE: M28AI Devlog (v161)
@maudlin27 So it is intentional, oky, seems like I always die with a tapped mass bar. Oh well. My impression is very different. I'd focus econ and air control, since that seems to win replays. but I'm clearly not the expert XD Thanks again for making this

RE: M28AI Devlog (v161)
I've been playing as the AI vs itself a lot, (so much fun for me, ai on, and ai status inherit on) and I've noticed that the ai when it's on my side controlling my army it's pretty terrible at reclaim and economy. Like it should imo with t1 builders always try to build mexes and reclaim anytime something is in range if there's storage space for it. Is this intentional? Also it seems to takes forever to upgrade mexes. I watch a lot of gyle recasts when I'm not playing the ai vs itself with me as a backseat driver, for context. P.S. I'm doing this on tournament 10km generated maps also fwiw, 1v1.

RE: M28AI Devlog (v161)
Apologies if I'm necro posting, but I just yesterday discovered hybrid ai mode where I can finally, after decades of wanting it since TA/dune 2, unleash my units under AI control. I wish I had money so I could donate somewhere. This has utterly transformed the game for me and I could not be more pleased. Thank you so much. Every game needs this kind of option.

RE: World map? Risk style?
Ahh, so it's been tried at least, I feel like there's potential but I guess it's just not gonna get explored. Thanks

World map? Risk style?
Has anyone ever made a resource accurate world map for FAF? That could be fun I think. Put starting locations at the big alliance points. Could be a good trend. Maps of real places to war on. Just sayin.
Sorry if this is an old idea.

@mostlostnoob thanks
love the avatar XD

RE: Is there a mex upgrade manager anywhere?
@indexlibrorum What setting is that?

Is there a mex upgrade manager anywhere?
like something that will upgrade a mex when mass maxes out and pause it when its dry like how autofabs work?
I hate all this microbabysitting and the timed upgrade mod feels like cheating because no cost.

RE: M28AI Devlog (v161)
@maudlin27 edit, I've made a mistake, it only fails offline in skirmish, save is 102mb, no replays in skirmish apparently
-
Transfer control hotkey?
I want to give units to an allied AI in a skirmish game. Is this possible?

RE: M28AI Devlog (v161)
Using your ais in parched river with ninja drones, offline skirmish.
It's the reclaim drones that break it. I'll just disable the drones next time, so, no rush.

RE: Question feedback before I dig in.
@resin_smoker I had no idea it was like this, thank you for explaining. Disappointing.
@deribus said in Question feedback before I dig in.:
There's also the Ninja Reclaim Drones and Reclaim Turret mods which provide various units which auto-reclaim.
I guess that's the best option. Thanks all. /sigh
Edit: I want to say thanks again for the suggestion of the reclaim drones. They save the game for me. Effectively they are 90% of what I wanted. Manually building mex is much more tolerable with a stream of reclaim coming in that I don't have to micro.

Can you link me to his mod? Seems like a perfect starting point for me.
(this is so hard for me you guys have no idea)

RE: Question feedback before I dig in.
@resin_smoker Ugh that's a terminology error on my part then, I mean fab as in fabricator as in the little t1 buildy units. Engineers. My bad.

RE: Question feedback before I dig in.
I don't do well in real time, and I want replies that are less flippant than real time. I'm from the mIRC era Being old is a double edge sword
Seems absurd to me that fabs just stand there and wait to be killed when they could just reclaim/capture enemies right in front of them or when they'll ignore the pile of metal in front of them when the metal count is negative. And a button to make fabs auto build mexs on nearest unclaimed mex point like auto making tactical missiles seems like it would exist also. (Like from a lore/immersion perspective.)
/sigh
I'm apparently an alien. In any context I'm in I find myself wanting things that seem obvious to me that no one else wants. SSDD(ecade) I guess.

Question feedback before I dig in.
I'm endlessly frustrated by the amount of manual best practice this game requires, so for a start I'd like to modify the default/idle behavior of the t1 fab.
I would really appreciate some hand-holding to get started. General tutorial links cause my brain to blank.
But before I even begin I'd like to know if it's possible for a t1 fab when idle to attempt to reclaim the nearest mass.
If so, that's where I'll start.
Possible followups would be it auto building t1 mex, and reclaiming enemies the same way a t1 tank would fire its main gun.
Thank you for your time and help.
