Are lobby titles excluding nationalities allowed?
-
Why wouldnt it be? You cant force people to play with others.
Obviously it sucks for the most russians who have nothing to do with this, but the host is in no way forced to let everyone in

The FAF has always had lobbies like "only EU", "no AUS" etc. Its normall. If he had just written "no RU", it would not have been a problem. But I think that such a context is unacceptable. It's like writing "No Spaniards until you stop being toxic" Although not all players from this beautiful country are toxic. But such a name accuses all Spaniards on a national basis.

It is, as far as I am aware, a well known fact that some russian(s) are behind this. The host is not saying that all russians are behind it, but that connection problems / DDOS always / most of the time happens with russians... be it a compromised account or the actual ddoser's account. This is nothing new.
Apparently also passwords from GAF (russian FAF basically) were leaked so many people (mostly russians, because its a russian client) who used the same password there as in faf are compromised.
I disagree with just not playing with russians, but the fact still stands that most of the problems comes from what I mentioned and the great russian firewall.

@Nuggets Are we discussing DDOS attacks here, or are we discussing the correctness of the lobby's name? Russians have made a huge contribution to faf, mods, map creation, tournaments, streams, and so on. There are more players from Russia in FAF than from any other country. The most popular SupCom caster from Russia.
I wanted to wait for the moderators' comments, but unfortunately they are silent.
I realized that it's normal for you to discredit an entire nation in lobby names because of a few bad people. Good. Then I have the right to call my lobby "No Germans until you stop being racists ," And it doesn't matter if 1 German is racists or all.
Am I thinking correctly?

Yes.
Maybe i was leaning too much into the topic, but i was refering to why this person would use such a lobby name. I am not saying we should ban / prevent russians from playing. I'm merely arguing where the initial statement from the host comes from, regardless if correct or not.
And also regardless if correct or not in my personal opinion lobby titles like this are fine. Also, how do you know the lobby title is not a joke? It might very well be. -

FAForever is (intentionally) a slow organization. It can take weeks to make a decision about something new. These trajectories are just opaque for the average user. You can't expect them (or any other contributor) to respond so quickly.
About the topic, @nuggets the direction you took this topic is unconstructive. Stop aggravating it. You're making a thousand assumptions, to what feels to me is just introducing noise to the conversation.
About the title itself: I don't know. I agree with @skrat at the end of the day we can't make players play with one another, regardless of their reasoning. I do think the additional context is unnecessary, but I'm not sure if it is something we should moderate.
Practically, this isn't that different from excluding all of the Australians because you had 1 laggy game where you think it was the Australian, even though it works fine 9/10 times as long as the ping is not above 500. All Australians were punished by that sentiment. Besides trying to explain people that it's a little more nuanced, I don't think we moderated against this.
And similarly: there have been lobby titles that (in my opinion) specifically took shit on me or my decisions. Even though it made me feel something every time I saw it, for months on ends sometimes, I did not end up reporting it. The (repeated) lobby titles were completely unnecessary, but it did not break the rules in my point of view. I do recall confronting the person in question about it.
tldr; I don't think there's a good answer.

@lenkin Hosts are free to choose with whom they want to play.
Lobby titles that target/blame an entire nationality for malicious acts may fall under discriminatory or hateful communication. Whether something crosses the line depends on the full context, which we can only review through a proper report.
If you encounter a lobby title which you believe violates the rules, please submit a report or open a moderation ticket.
The trend for many years regarding lobby titles has been like "no X" (where X stands for the country in question) which is usually meant to avoid poor connections between certain countries. That use case is legitimate.
I have changed the initial forum title "is it ok?" to something more meaningful for search results, and more appropriate for OPs content.
@jip If you or anyone else feels directly or indirectly harassed in any channel or in any way, please report it.
(edit: Approaching the person directly and resolving things on your own is great. Just from my experience, it sometimes escalates, and involving a neutral third party can make it easier.)
We want a healthy and positive community, and ignoring malicious elements will only allow them to spread.

To add to Magge's post: If we forbid people from naming specific nationalities in their title, that doesn't mean the host won't remove those people from their lobbies anyway. All it does it remove specific words from the title.
We'd have to start tracking who kicks who, and the moderate that or even ordering people to play with certain other players, and we're not able nor willing to do anything of the sort.
The host of a lobby may kick as they please. Everyone else is free to make their own lobby.

I think its fine, half of the games with Russians in one guy flames then control k base and leaves anyways so, saying you dont want them in your lobby is not a problem in my mind. The fact the community is 90% sure the DDOS is caused by Russians aparently does not seem affect the mods minds at all. If Aussies can do a Aussie only then we can do no Russian, no Aussie, no German. The list goes on.

@NOC Can you provide statistics to confirm your words? Or proof of the involvement of specific people in DDOS attacks? How many games have you played over the past year to draw such conclusions about the players of the ru community?
-
DDoS attacks can come from many different places around the world.
There is no reliable evidence at this moment that Russian players, or any other nationality, are responsible. Please refrain from repeating assumptions or rumors.
The official statement regarding that can be read here.
if someone has still questions regarding the topic, contact the moderator team, and we can re-open the thread.
