Anti DDOser system

I couldn't play on FAF for a long time + I was DDoS'd more diligently than regular players. I found a good solution for myself - play only in a lobby with a password, so the DDoSer can't find out your IP and DDoS. I made a channel in Discord "for my" players in whom I am confident and we play calmly. I recommend creating such groups of "friends in FAF" and inviting only familiar, trusted players to it and be sure to change your IP before playing, since your IP could have already been leaked before. I think if most people switch to password-protected games, then we will have more time until FAF can fix the problem with the IP leak.

Or use a VPN. Although VPN only means that you are safe, and not the others in your lobby

You can also use friend-only lobbies and friend everyone relevant.
Not sure how effective enforced rating is, but that's also a way to exclude 0 rated/0 games accounts (or whatever the attacker uses). I'm not sure because I started setting it at 950 rating and games seemed ok but yesterday Aranei lagged in my game (though he didn't disconnect, so that's good).

Sounds like a good idea except just logging into the client can trigger a DDOS
-
@MrBlueMoon what do you mean? Logging in the client won´t trigger a ddos

I have an idea for a DDoS protection solution: use a VPN server and run host-to-host gameplay inside that server. The ICE adapter already supports this. We just need to add a checkbox/option to launch the ICE adapter without STUN/TURN servers to preserve confidentiality. Ideally, FAF would spin up 2–3 servers that players could connect to using their FAF username/password (or another method). Any DDoS inside the VPN would mean an immediate account ban, since the source is clear. Externally, the VPN’s cloud IP would rely on the provider’s built-in DDoS protection (which they already have). Please consider this approach.

@Nuggets The ICE adapter exposes your real IP address, even when you’re using a VPN. This has been tested. Check IceMsg

@HitiX We already did that for half a day. It broke the last bit of connectivity we had ...
