Blocking players, dodge list in MM
-
FaF is pretty small and in MM I got list like of 5 players, that make win IMPOSSIBLE. And I just cant avoid them, so the only option that I have - is to leave or to play already stacked match with guy who don't want to learn.
I already know that they are bad. I already know that its 2v3 since start. Its really frustrating, I dont want to carry usless massblockers (even massfeeders, I can say), that dont engage ACU at eargly game, dont spam, plaing some kind of SimCity instead of playing and provide literally 0 impact.

What
What's your / your teammates' rating? Which game-mode are you playing?
-
LordVladimer is 3v3 TMM at 1300 rating based on his replays.
Blocking players with FAF's small pool would cause some people to just never get games. Also when you get bad teammates you usually just get an equally bad opponent, which is what you should take advantage of to win, and that's definitely possible in TMM because there are no players farming rating off specific maps like global.
-
@Nomander That's very high points! But you seem to have bad games. To sum up: yes, you may have bad teammates. They even have more rating points than you.
But, in long term, ruiners and people that don't seem to do what they are expected to do (in long term, again) will lose points, and will leave your bracket.
What's your point?
-
@Nomander well I don't mind if ruiners never get TMM. And actually rating dont show players skill at all, sadly, you can see ruiner at Diamond 4 or Gold, they both will do something pointless. I honestly don't understand how some players get thet hight.

I think that some players (so be it, I'll name my favorite - Long Di) just go into the rating mindlessly poking buttons. And here it's 50-50 - they may get lucky with the team, the opponent may be much weaker, or they will deservedly lose.
So they float on their Gold 2-4, without rising or falling.
I've been watching the same Long Di for 2 years now, and he's been doing ridiculous shit, and he keeps doing it, without impacting the team. In 2 years in 3v3 TMM, he hasn't even learned how to deploy his ACU to help his allies in the early stages of the game.
In the last 10 games with him in the same team, I was able to win only once, because it's always a 2v3 game with a mass blocker. And I don't think I will play again if he'll get in my team - I'll just build fac and ctrl+k.
-
If you're good enough, you can carry your team 1v5 in most games and eventually settle into a higher rating where you can't do that anymore. If you can't do this, then you're roughly at the rating where you should be.
Realistically, the only thing you can do here is figure out the flaws in your gameplay so you can improve and escape the trenches.
-
@Razana its 3v3 TMM. If I want to play solo - I'll go 1v1.
Tho, you CANT win with mass blocker against equal enemy. Since they have double resources, goddamit.
-
Btw, replay IDs would be great
-
@LordVladimer if that's the case, then you're left with just being able to complain about your teammates. Good luck.
Like Nomander said, the FAF community is too small to support a block/avoid list like in other games, you'll lock yourself out of finding matches real quick.

One of the points of matchmaker is that you can't fully customize your experience to create a competitive environment.
Regarding the "unwinnable situation": You already occupy a slot in your own team, so there are only two slots left that could be filled with people that contribute nothing to winning a game, compared to three slots on the enemy team. So statistically these players are on the enemy team 60% of the time and their existence is actually to your advantage. Provided that you yourself play decent of course. -
The best counter for this to make the experience more 'reliable' is to make friends to queue with. You know how good they are, how they play, and maybe you'll all be empty slots together, or you'll crush together. Stop letting people you perceive as bad ruin a competitive aspect of FAF, because then it's no longer fun.

Play 1v1 then

Fair... If you had friend, that play FaF. I bring like 6 my friends to FaF and sadly they don't stay here in long term. FaF is hard to learn and even harded to master.

You get mass blockers 50% in your time and 50% in the opposite team. If you can’t win with them surely you can’t lose against them

The FAF Discord is always full of people wanting to play, try to break into one of the sub communities, or make one of your own.

@LordVladimer
on the one hand I understand your frustration because I have an unwritten list of weak players who I know will play poorly as always but on the other hand they shouldn't be deprived of the opportunity to find a game. The best way in such a situation that I can recommend to you are two versions:version 1: quick snipe the best player from the opposing team - this should make the game easier even with weak teammates on your side
version 2: ignore your teammates and focus on eco as quickly as possible. thanks to this when they die you will take over their bases as a result of which you will have incomparably large resources compared to the opposing team which will make it easier for you to defeat them with, for example, a quick experiment or something like that
