Because doing that is going to end in BAR getting a cease and desist from Square Enix for using their platform to give away their IP for free.

@FtXCommando What IP? We won't even rename units, and keep BAR's 3D models.

You obviously can’t do that when BAR is missing a whole tech level, new models will need to exist.

Don’t see the point in porting over a game that plays differently, is called differently, and looks differently. Just create a new game at that point.

Would adding the same Steam integration game check requirement solve this? I suppose the question is really to Square Enix who aren't predictable.

@Defiant Why would anyone want this? It's about the feeling of the game, not 3D models and unit names. We can get free from copyright.

Why doesn't Square Enix touch faf now?
The rights to the game and therefore the income from sales belong to Nordic Games. Square enix doest make any money from the game.
Square enix doest receive money from SCFA sales.

                  Reasonable.

Games similar to FAF are out there now. A more direct FAF clone might still risk Square Enix, so we could give them license accountability.

What would be the goal of a new engine standalone FAF game?
                    Better performance?
                    Better connections?
                    Infinite expanses, infinite possibilities?

The closest thing to that is Sanctuary: Shattered Sun. But they don't seem to be getting any investors.
I've looked at the gameplay and it's just not what I like about +2000 MP games in FAF.

                    Or Beyond All Reason.
Played it for 1 hour and it's absolutely not mine.

And it's not like it was over after Supreme Commander Forged Alliance.
There was Supreme Commander 2, which I didn't like at all.
                    Or later Planetary Annihilation.
Neither of them were really commercially successful.

And if the creators of Supreme Commander Forged Alliance haven't managed to come up with a decent (better) successor over the years, how are a bunch of hobby developers supposed to do it in their spare time? And for what, if you already have perfection, except for certain connection problems.

re sanctuary-i don't have high expectations of devs who don't understand that you live inside a dyson sphere, not on it

@ZOB Just watched a Sanctuary game cast. Feels like Sup Com. Haven't actually played the game, but I don't get your comment. Explain please?
