Hello everyone, as you would expect, its that time of the year again. So get your ladder games in and prepare yourselves. This years Prelim Stage will be a bit different so please pay attention to the changes.

Due to chat bugs and network issues, all official communication on the days of the tournament will be via discord in the appropriate text channel in the #tournaments section. If you cannot communicate through discord then the FAF Client will be used as next best option. This chat will be called #LOTS

Prelim Stage/Swiss Stage

The Prelim Stage will be a 16 player Swiss format.
Players that reach 3 wins advance to Finals.
Players that reach 3 losses are eliminated.
Elimination and advancement matches are BO3
All other matches are BO1 in this stage
Rematches are not permitted
Players will be matched with equal score opponents.

The finals stage will be a classic single elimination bracket with all matches being BO5 (including 3rd place decider) apart from the Grand Finals which will be BO7.

Qualifier Winners will receive a LOTS Qualifier Winner avatar.

Rules

The official FAF Tournament Rules apply.
Some of the most important of these rules are:

Disconnects within 5 minutes may result in a rehost. The Tournament Director has the last say afterwards.
Players will replay the same map if they draw.
If the incorrect map is hosted, the correct map will be hosted and the incorrect map will not count towards the score
Players who do not appear without valid reasoning will be given a warning that may result in being temporarily suspended from tournaments.
If a player does not show up in Round 1, they may be replaced. For all subsequent rounds, it will be treated as a forfeit and they will be eliminated and not replaced.
The Tournament Director's decision is final.

This year we will be using the new LOTS Points system to determine who receives invites. The top 8 players with the most points will qualify to the Prelim Stage. Their placement in the LOTS Points system will also determine their order of seeding for the Prelim Stage. You can find the Points sheet here

Any ties for LOTS Points will be determined by the most recent result. If a player declines, then the player who would be next in line will receive the invite instead. The remaining players will be decided from the qualifier.

There are also a few other announcements I would like to make, so please take the time to read this:

After getting feedback from the players, the Swiss Stage will last only 1 day (Saturday, 13th). However with time constraints if both players agree, they may play their remaining matches on the Sunday only IF it does not delay the other matches.

The mappool will be released this evening.

In terms of player cards, the Yow clan have kindly offered their help so that we get them again this year! They will hopefully be made by the time of the Swiss Stage, however not confirmed.

I've had an idea that was inspired by osu! tournaments which is that for all of their tournaments, they use Google Sheets to display all the necessary information. The Swiss bracket that was intended simply does not function on challonge, so I decided to make it on sheets as well. It will be where the official bracket and relevant information to the Swiss Stage is located.

I enjoy the pool. At least 20x20 maps are almost as disrespected as 5x5 maps these days. Some of the 10x10 maps are fun and you only spelled two of their names wrong.

Interesting facts:

This is the 10th anniversary LOTS tournament. Finally, all the declared players came to the tournament, and the average rating of participants is the highest in the history of tournaments!
Nexus is the only player who participated in all the LOTS tournaments. In second place is ZLO, who also played in all the LOTS tournaments, except for the 2024 tournament, which was held in a reduced format (8 players instead of 16)
4 players participating in LOTS 2016 tournament are playing this year. This: Blast_Chilled, ZLO, Robogear, Nexus
The most titled player is Nexus. He won 2 first places, 1 (+1 according to the results of the tournament) seсond places and 3 third places
The most popular maps in LOTS tournaments: Daroza's Sanctuary and Point of Reach. They were in all the LOTS tournaments. Information about the map pool is available only from 2019.
