TWO MONITOR PROBLEM AFTER YEARS OF WORKING GOOD, SAME HARDWARE

Good morning,

after having been able to use dual-monitor mode in-game without any issues for years, I’ve been experiencing a problem for the past two days: whenever I switch on the second monitor whilst gaming, there’s severe flickering. This flickering is a new issue; I haven’t had it for years. In single-monitor mode, everything works without any problems. My hardware: AMD 16-core CPU, Nvidia 5060, Windows 11 (all updates installed), 2x 40-inch DELL monitors. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thank you for your reply and your question. The flickering only occurs when I start FAF, and only when I have set FAF to dual-monitor mode. Otherwise, there is no flickering – neither when running Windows nor when I use FAF with just one monitor.

I use a double monitor fullscreen setup as well, and have had no issues. Seems to indicate this is not the consequence of any recent updates.

Have you tried swapping the monitors/their cables around? Does that change where the flickering happens?

What if you set the 2nd monitor as your main monitor without swapping cables, does the flickering still happen and if yes, on the same monitor?

Trying this might indicate where the problem lies. I would almost suspect an issue with the monitor or cable, but it's weird it only happens for FAF.

Just to be clear, this only happens when you play FAF, not any other game/video/whatever?

If you haven't yet, try playing a different game in dual-monitor mode.
