The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!
New T2 Aeon shield is unselectable until built

Means you can't order it to upgrade to T3 until it is built. Other factions' T2 shields are selectable.
