I hope that it does replace FAF but I know it won't simply because of the fact that there are still people playing Total Annihilation. There will always be people playing FAF and working on it. They've already sunk so much time into learning the game or building things for it that cannot be translated over to a new system. Instead of wondering if FAF will be replaced by Sanctuary we should just wish for Sanctuary's success and hopes it pushes the genre forward.

RE: You guys ever thought if moving to a new engine?
Some years ago (maybe 2019 or 2020) I remember asking a similar question on Reddit. I was out of the game for a decade and was surprised FAF existed. I remember one comment stuck out to me. The commenter basically told me that working on such a thing is a waste of time and resources, no one is interested in it, it wouldn't be as good as the original, I'm better off working on FAF, etc etc. The typical Negative Nancy shit you get from Reddit when you try to think differently.
Well a year or two later Sanctuary was announced and they've been at it ever since. People were excited for it from the discussions in their Discord. I often wondered if Sanctuary would exist if they asked their questions on Reddit instead of me. Would they have been discouraged and decided not to pursue their project? Would that random negative Redditor be even more proud of himself for shitting on another person's dream? (No jab at anyone here, I like you guys)
What I'm trying to say is give it a shot but understand that it maybe a serious commitment with very little return. But if you want a new game engine then make it happen. I've seen one other person try this but he was going alone and life caught up to him. Here is his Github:

Hello that was me XD
I've never seen it as shitting on someone's dream, and I'm sorry you took it that way. It was meant to be an explanation of why it hasn't been done and why I don't think it's a good idea.
You didn't have to call yourself out and bring receipts! I wasn't gonna play detective. One of the commenters in that thread was tatsu and he was involved in Sanctuary. So even though I put my plans on temporary hold I'm glad tatsu forged forward.

RE: This idea will make you angry (don't read it)
The idea makes sense but then I wonder about how to balance upgrading your factories if you don't have access to higher tier resources. Remember you can build a t1 mex without a t1 factory and operate at t1 but you typically upgrade your mexes to t2 before you upgrade your factories or you eco will be unbalanced.

RE: Deceiver < Stinger < Atlantis / Czar Do you think this should be a bug or a feature?
@mazornoob said in Deceiver < Stinger < Atlantis / Czar Do you think this should be a bug or a feature?:
I think that common sense wise it makes sense for Atlantis to be stealthed, but isn't the Czar larger than deceiver's stealth field? I feel like Czar should be an exception because of that.
The Czar and Atlantis having stealth doesn't make sense. Their factions are not known for stealth. Atlantis having jamming makes more sense. If anything I think those two units should have flak along side their SAMs.

RE: [Discontinued] Ethereal FAF Client 1.0
@spikeynoob I know some C#. I've been getting my ass kicked looking for a job so my confidence is -9000. I think I'll fork the project and try to recreate his work in AvaloniaUI. It will help me understand whats going on. BTW I love watching you're games.

RE: [Discontinued] Ethereal FAF Client 1.0
Hey @Eternal , Does this run in Linux natively? C# is cross-platform now so here's hoping.

RE: [Discontinued] Ethereal FAF Client 1.0
@eternal Well thats a good enough reason. I may try to help since I know a little C# and want to contribute to projects. But I use Linux and WPF doesn't work in Linux. Maybe I'll try to port it to Avalonia UI and see if that will work.
