The game crashed while creating the game
-
@zhanghm18 First, I would suggest that if you're using Windows, then please go to FAF client > top left menu > Settings > Forged Alliance Forever > Use FAF Debugger when starting Forged Alliance > > click "Get the latest version of the debugger". This will create a more detailed log to assist with troubleshooting.
Second, I would say try playing a game with no mods. Disable them both in the client & if you do make it to the lobby, disable them in lobby > Options > Mods (or lobby > Mods). This will ensure that you're dealing with only the base FAF game & not anything else.
Third, I would go to client > top left menu > Show data folder > FAForever > gamedata, then delete both the
effects.nx2
&effects.nx5
files.Forth, go to client > top left menu > Show game.prefs file > cache, then delete the
mesh.1.5.3809
file.If you should crash again, then go to client > top left menu > Show logs folder > logs > sort by Date Modified & drag/drop the latest game_2xxxxxxx.log file (should be the one at the top after you sorted) into your post.

@mostlostnoob Thanks for your reply. I'll do what you say. But I've tried disabling all mods before and it didn't work. I will try to delete some files like you said.

@mostlostnoob said in The game crashed while creating the game:
"Get the latest version of the debugger"
Found a strange problem. If I check "Get the latest version of the debugger", the game never crashes when created. If I don't check "Get the latest version of the debugger", it's easy to crash. Does this mean something is wrong with the setup of my client? Or do I always have to check "Get the latest version of the debugger" for future games?
-
@zhanghm18 ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Offhand, it sounds like you might have a permissions issue. If you haven't already done so, try adding an exclusion/exception for the FAF Client in the active scan & firewall sections of their AV software & Windows Security.
That said, have you ever ran the client as Administrator?
-
@mostlostnoob I haven't run it in administrator mode. But I used to whitelist clients in antivirus software
-
@mostlostnoob I added the antivirus whitelist, but this problem still occurs. When I run the debuger, the game can be created; But when I don't run the debuger, the game still crashes at creation. This is loggame_22825688.log game_22825687.log
The following one is the log of running the debugger, which can normally create the game into the hall.game_22825681.log
When this problem occurs, even if I use the exe to enter the game directly, it will still crash.

It appears your computer has issues compiling the shaders:
info: Compiled shader: /effects/cartographic.fx info: Compiled shader: /effects/frame.fx warning: c:\programdata\faforever\gamedata\effects.nx5\effects\mesh.fx: unable to create effect: c:\programdata\faforever\gamedata\effects.nx5\effects\mesh.fx reason: unknown error
Did anything change to your setup? Or did you install (old) drivers recently?
-
@jip I didn't change the Settings. This problem cropped up some time ago (a few months ago). It's just that when I ran into this problem before, I could have successfully built a game if I had tried a few more times. But recently the problem has become more frequent. I'll check the driver, see if there's an update
-
@mostlostnoob Similar crashes have appeared frequently recently. I opened the debugger according to what you said, which is the loggame_23379917.log
game_23379926.log
Disabling all mods also has no effect and still crashes -
The warning message before it crashes in both logs:
warning: c:\programdata\faforever\gamedata\effects.nx5\effects\particle.fx: unable to create effect: c:\programdata\faforever\gamedata\effects.nx5\effects\particle.fx reason: unknown error
Have not encountered such errors so far to know how to solve it, unfortunately.
Can you provide more info about your environment? Like PC/Laptop specs, which OS, newest drivers, newest Windows updates? Maybe it gives some hint to narrow it down.
Have you tried the "basic deeds" already like reinstalling FAF, Supreme Commander (files verification via GOG/Steam)?

@magge My computer is an Asus ROG laptop.
My operating system: Windows 11 22631.4169;
CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900H 2.50GHz;
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU;
My GPU driver version is 32.0.15.6094 (latest driver in August this year)
I've tried reinstalling the game and it didn't help -
Is it possible that the laptop uses its integrated GPU instead of the 3070 for SC and that causes some side effects/bugs? Also use window mode. You can test it by disabling the integrated GPU to narrow the issue down.
I can not find anything useful via Google or AI about the error, so as last resort you may re-install the OS and just go with FAF and SC. Not an optimal solution, but before you spend hours trying random "If I do x, then maybe it will work"-stuff ...

@magge I tried disabling integrated GPU and it didn't help.
