The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!
Game freezes for seemingly no reason

Every single round I try to play my game will at one point completely freeze and have to be force closed by task manager. This has no set time as I have played over 30 minutes into a round and not crashed but have also crashed after mere minutes.

I see no reason for a crash. Try a normal map, without any mods. If it still crashes, do the usual "reinstall-everything" approach.
Also, can you post the Windows error log about the crash.
