Would like to have RCIV in Feb 2021, (RCIII was in Feb this year)
The idea is for very similar format as the RCIII
I am thinking of allowing the AI devs to pick the AI factions,
(like the Computer Cup) that way the more apropos faction will be chosen.
I would like for this post thread to be a central point to discuss the playability
of the maps.
And to have all AI's working properly together, (Like as in RCIII - Great job!)
Any dev who prefers to chat in private discord is also fine with me.
The Top 3 AI's from the Computer Cup and Uveso are in gong to be in the Tournament.
Each map there will be anywhere from 2 to 4 AI,
and may be a mix of AI or the same.
Below are the AI's and sub AI's that will be participating in RCIV:
The tourny rules will be almost identical to RCIII.
You can read the rules and view maps from the RCIII tourny below.
Main difference will be that the AI Factions will be pre chosen by devs and myself, instead of allowing players to choose.
Most of the maps will be the same as in the RCIII, and
laid out the same way.
Am always on lookout for good 3 v3 v AI maps though,
submit any for consideration please.
I'll enter DilliDalli and get it to support the nomads faction in the next update (in the next week or so).
What kind of players are you looking for? I played in the computer cup earlier this year and found it to be quite fun-if this is similar then I would love to play here as well

It is a 3v3 with AI on map as a "wildcard/disruptor"
There will be 12 teams and the 12 highest rated players, pick teams thru a draft type selection.

The players ranged from our #1 player "Nexus" to 1300 rated range.
We had 12 teams with avg combined rating of 5.8K.
There are not many 3 team maps in the vault. (specifically 9 or 12 player)
Search 9 player and see what I mean.
I am looking for a 20 x 20 Finals map,
and any other 10x or 20x maps for the tournament.
In RCIII All maps were standard 2 team maps, where I inserted the AI on side slots.
Except the Finals Map #1 was a 120 degree 3 team 12 player map.
I used Adaptive Dark Liver (the only 12 player map worthy as a highlight game)
as Game #1* in Final's with option to play twice.
(*since the map is Not symmetrical, the losing team of game 1 had option to change sides and play again)
It's a nice 20 x 20 but it is Not Isometric about the AI base vertical x-axis.
One problem though was, it being a water map, was not the best kind of map (small land area and island play)
for a good AI showing.
For a look down memory lane: This is how I presented the Game in RCIII:
All 3 Civilian Armies are gathered "Together" for the First Time.
On Adaptive Dark Liver
Azraeelian Angels' Swarm Terror doctrine is on the Left,
Uveso's Adaptive Armies are on the Right, and
Relent0rs' RNG Army and Air will be in Rear.
Match 22 > Game 1
Finals - Game 1 Map - Will be Adaptive Dark Liver
This map is a 3 team map, but it is Not symetrical about the player/AI axises.
So do NOT expect exact symmetry in the battle.
By now you should know Civilian tactics well, AND
will need to compensate.
If the team who loses this battle,
feels the gameplay favored the other side:
They May choose to "Trade" start positions and try same map again.
(This game will count as Game 2 of the Finals)
If losing team is 'ok' with the outcome,
and would like to choose alternate maps for game 2 and possible games 3-4,
then proceed as instructed below:
What I need Help with is: Finding Maps for RCIV and
Having a map/s developed for 9/12 player finals game,
That will work good with AI. -
This would effectively be a whole new map category -
3 v 3 v 3 AI or
Any combo of 2 teams vs AI where this format of tourny would play.
Adaptive Dark Liver is great for Human Play,
but has constricted land and surrounding water, which is Not the most ideal map for AI.
It was the Only map in tourney that I choose the AI Factions, instead of players.
An ideal 3 v 3 v 3AI Finals Map might be
a 20 x 20 built Isometric about the AI base, (or 3 way equi distant 120 degree sections, which would be good 3v3v3 human too)
and for this tourny Must also have the 3 AI spawns be centered.
Water should be in/near center, and be AI friendly = not have small ponds and/or constricted water ways near base to cause pointless naval bases.
10 x 10 maps also welcome for the Tournament too!
Any mapmakers out there that can accomodate :)~ would be greatly appreciated.
As I was proof reading this,
it dawned on me that one way to create maps that would work with the desired format is to "Mirror" already designed maps.
One map #14 used in RCIII was a mirrored version of Selkie.
Here is how that map showed in the last Tourny:
All RCIII maps have had their final adjustments made to playability.
Be sure to Match exactly the options on the right side of maps.
Always Double check the AI Types. and the options yellow dots.
Map #14 (below) for instance has 2 game specific options
the AI is:
AI:RNG Standard - and Not AIx,
AND it has a AI Unit Cap of 500.

This is the Only tourny map where the AI does not have a cheat.
Will the players allow RNGAI to control the whole middle or will they deny?
So if you have a map that you think would play well mirrored,
and know how to map edit,
that you think would work good for either 2 or 4 AI...
Lily Pads is a 3 team map. You can put the AIs on the smaller islands.
Yes I thought of that one previously,
There are 21 maps leading to the finals,
14 are 10 x 10 maps and (games 1 and 3 of each BO3)
7 are 20 x 20 maps (game 2 of each BO3)
Lily Pads has very little land for the AI, if it only took the small islands.
The AI is not the best on water maps,
and I already have 3 of the 7 - 20x20's maps with majority water now.
Also if the AI took the 3 small islands, the
players would have to "split/share" One island that is not symmetrical.
Would like a nice map #22 = for Game 1 of finals.
A map where I can use either 3 or 4 AI and
preferably a mix,
and where the AI no cheat has a chance ..
Therefore a map like Selkie Mirror above where the AI can
easily keep land and build eco.
The AI won one of the 2 games that was played on it because the players
didn't follow the map AI modifier of AI and used AIx default = 2.0 and got run over.
Basically a map that would be a dream scenario for the AI with its state of play today,
with good pathing, slope/elevation changes,
but not so unbalanced where there is triple the reclaim nearby.
