    Some announcements
Due to the large turnout for this tournament
I am announcing and committing to 2 more Rainbow Cup tournaments.

I will open another Fourm Post titled Rainbow Cups V +VI when this tournament is done.

It will be open for discussion on ALL aspects of the 2 upcoming tournaments.
Will dicuss team formations, substitution, ratings, rules and many other things.

    .

    First Announcement
Will have to check first with Admins about time scheduling, but
would like to have another open rating tourney sometime next March.
    Rainbow Cup VI ~ 3 v 3 ~ $1.5 K
    1st = $780
    2nd = $480 and
    3rd = $240

    Second Announcement
    Would like to have a
    Rainbow Cup V ~ 3 v 3 ~ $1.2K - Spacenet 2nd Wave <1800 rating
    tournament around end of summer.
(same prize structure as this RCIV)
This tournament will be the same maps as this current tournament,
    but...
Will be "something" like a 1800 rated and under tournament.

Every above 1800 rated player, who entered this tournament,
got drafted and had a chance to play.
I would like for "everyone" who registered for this tournament and
was in "draft" pool to be invited to sign up for the RCV.

    Third Announcement
Although the maps will stay the same for Rainbow Cup V,
the AI has long awaited updates about to be released.
There will be exciting things like:
Zone control for AI smarter map control,
    Better eco'ing,
    better micro dodging and attacking,
    better team play,
better air and sea play, and so much more.
    plus....
We have new and old AI's that have been actively updated and want chance at the players.
Rainbow Cup V is going to be the showcase AI war of ages 🙂

    RE: Monthly AI Tourney Series

"This week I also pulled performance stats for each AI against itself in the two round 1 maps, which produced the results below:"
    tmp.png

I have been testing for the upcoming RC tourny and have been using "mostly" M27 as the standard to
measure against the other Game specific AI's,
I also start test, at game option speed = Fast, (which is = to +4 sim) to make sure the game speeds are "not likely" to drop below "0" game speed.
Game speed limits the size of the maps I can use -
(if games slow to "-1", after 45 minutes, I limit the AI's to 10x10 maps)
The faster AI's like DilliDalli and RNG are easily able to handle the 20x20 maps.
Since the test games are a combo of the the Game AI and M27 -
I was wondering if with all the recent updates to M27 if it is still as fast as the performance results shown above.

I would test vs Uveso, (since it needs to be loaded for all games anyway)
but it seems that after Uveso grows it's base large it also slows game down a little,
so I don't want to run tests with Uveso as the standard, as it might skew the test results.
Update: I just tested Uveso since post and It runs fast.
It was still +4 at end of 37 min game with 6 AI:Uveso and Lots of units!

Would it be possible to include another performance chart after you run your next tourny,
    with the updated AI versions?
    Thanks.

There are only 3 days left to Register.
Registration ends this Sunday at 2400

Captains please make contact if you have change of plans and will not be able to play,
as reversing the draft once started will not be possible.
Also, be sure to contact players before you select them for the draft,
to be sure they are still able to play.

We have an fantastic turnout this year, and more players have signed up than last year,
and while the top 12 captains ratings are similar to last year,
the remaining field of draft eligible players is even stronger than last year.

Big Thanks to everyone who have signed up, and

First 2 days of Tournament is over.
The Semi Finals and Final are left to play.
Which is 2 matches or 5-9 games.

The way the tournament was structured was so that
36 players would sign up and commit to one weekend, and
then 9 players have flexibility to set date of finals.
This allowed more people to sign up.

Players please give min 3 day notice for FAF crew to make preparations
As Soon as we hear from the players on the date and time,
we will forward it on here asap. 🙂

    Congrats to final 3 teams

    New Team Entrants!

Team "Venus" is entering the tournament as AI team #4
Venus is sending their 2 top commanders -
Commanders 'Deep Pink' and 'Shocking Pink' are
reporting for their first RC appearance.

Team "Spacenet" is AI team #3.
Spacenet has regrouped since their last defeat and
    are now stronger than before.

Players may now find themselves in 4-way FFA Brawls-
    With Team #2, Spacenet and Venus!RCVI TeamColor2.jpg

The 2 main reasons for adding another AI team:

1-Unbalanced AI behavior's and builds from some AI's, when
---AI's spawn on opposite sides of the map and assigned to same team.

2-Farms suggested adding a 4th AI in the last 2 RC casts :)~

Here is how the Game day maps will be released:

Lobby is similar to last 3 RC's, but with the addition of
an AIx Cheat and Build factor column added in the game lobby.

In this sample game.. there are 2 different AI's.
RNG AIx is set at 1.1x for both Cheat and Build.
M27 AI is set with the Non cheat AI = 1.0
2-Sample 4way.jpg This map has 6 open spawns for each team to choose from. (Which 3 spawns would you choose?)
See Post #2: Directions - above to see how each team selects their starting positions.

    RE: Rainbow Cup VI ~ 3v3 ~ $1,500

I have come up with a new
    Team formation and Draft process,
    for this tournament.

It allows Captains to register as a Single, or
with a playing partner as a 2 player team
    But...
this method gives Captains a "trade option"
in round 1 of the draft (see below)
    ...........

Players may register as a Single, or
as a 2 player team - with a 4.1K combined RC rating cap.
(Captains of these teams who are rated >2.2K have their
rating capped at 2.2K, - allowing the registering of
any player rated 1900 and less)

The top 8 rated players, registered as either
a Single or With a Teammate
    are made Team Captains

    TEAM FORMATION and DRAFT PROCESS
    Round 1 of draft:
Draft starts with the 8th seeded Captain and
continues sequentially up thru ALL 8 Captains.

When it is a Single Captains turn to draft he may:
choose ANY player in the draft pool,
whether or Not the combined team total rating is >4.1K.

When it is a 2 player Team Captain's draft turn,
    he has TWO options:
1: He may "Pass" and Keep his Pre-Draft registered partner, or
2: He may "Trade" his Pre-Draft registered partner and
----------"Draft" - ANY player in the draft pool,
thus sending his Pre-Draft registered partner to the draft pool.

    Round 2 of draft:
8th seed Captain drafts Any player in the draft pool.
Continue draft process up to #1 seed Captain.

So what we basically have here is:
A 2 round draft, with the
Captains option to register Pre-Draft with ANY
mutually agreeable team player, within a 4.1K rating cap.
    But...
Still allows Captain's an Option to trade their Pre-draft picks.

Any Pre-Draft player who was "traded" out - in Round 1 of the draft, is
immediately placed into the draft pool, and
has the rest of Round 1 and ALL of Round 2 to get drafted, and
even possibly be drafted by his original team 🙂

I believe this method works very well, and
is "fairer" to the Top and the Middle seeded Captains in both -
Weaker and Stronger fields of players.
    With a weaker field -
Captains will get to register Pre-Draft , and
"lock in" - One player of his choice.
    With a stronger field -
Captains may have an Option to trade out his Pre-Draft pick, and
draft a player that would of been above the Pre-Draft registration cap.

Going to use a combination of team sign-ups and drafting.
With a team max combined rating of 4.1 K cap.
Players rated above 2.2 K will be capped at 2.2k for team sign up.
Remainder of team players are drafted.

    RE: Rainbow Cup VI ~ 3v3 ~ $1,500

    Registration is now open.

To calculate a players RC tournament rating:
We use the highest leaderboard rating (200 game minimum)
Global rating has 50 points subtaracted from rating.

If highest rating is of a game type with - less than 200 games played...
We will proportional blend the players next higest ratings to obtain a RC rating.

The next highest rating - will "be weighted" with the number of games needed
to make up a 200 game history.

Ie: A "player" has the below ratings:
    1v1 = 1,740 and 257 games,
    2v2 = 1,865 and 38 games,
    4v4 = 2,206 and 104 games +
    Global=2,165 and 3,300 games.

The players highest rating is his 4v4 rating of 2,206 with 104 games.

To make up a 200 game average -
we take the next highest rating, which is his
    Global rating of 2,165 - 50 pts = 2,115.
so.. the players rating is calculated as follows:
    (2,206 x 104 games) + (2,115 x 96 games) = 432,464 / 200 = 2,162 RC Rating.

Players sign up by scrolling to bottom of thread and
commenting - anything resembling "sign me up".
TD will assign ratings ~ no math required 😉
