map-gen design vote
-
idea:
vote for better maps in matchmaker eg. 3v3 due playersettingsbuttons for color yellow(dust),green, red(eyecancer),white(eyecancer)
also buttons for shape settings:flat(open),flat(choke), water, setons-clone,...
buttons for small,mid,large..majority wins and map will be generated, if you can not do it before generation, make an list with prefered setting on next map for the generator
best solution would be that only connected players vote for their map , not the whole waitingpool
the connection should be before map generation(i mean the 6 players in 3v3 should vote for their map) -
Sounds a bit complicated with all the knobs.
I would be happy, if neroxis generates 3 maps and people can vote for one. -
it is not complicated, just some settings for the mapgen, but not from drunken admins, but from the users for the users.
your idea is also nice, much easier -
I get the gist of the problem you want to tackle.
Part of it comes from the fact that the moderation client only allows for determining the number of players and the map size when it comes to generating maps. They basically have no influence on the map design (biome, mass, reclaim,... ) in there. So as of now, what you're asking for is technically impossible unless someone would be willing to spend time on improving the moderation client, which - in my opinion - would be benefecial for everyone's 3v3 experience.
Imagine having the option to create "templates" to pick from for different skill levels, e.g. low reclaim / low mex for beginners, and so on.

Raise a feature request in the github repo then and explain what you need. Nothing will be done if a feature request only exists in someone's head...

@Brutus5000
I get your point. But tbh, I don't use Github much, I ain't an IT guy or a dev in particular. I am just a community member pointing towards something. From my understanding, this forum is the main platform for me to do so. From here, it's on the moderators / community managers to pick it up. If a particular team likes to use a different platform, so be it. But it's not on me to track all these platforms down to communicate with said team.At best, I would reach out to the team lead. But hey, these information are outdated on the website, and at least three years old. Even if they weren't, the website does only provide the name of the team lead and no contact form or whatsoever. So it's useless anyway the way the page is designed, as I then had to try finding people on different platforms again (with no guarantee they go by the same name on e.g. Discord).
Also it's not that "I need it", I don't have access to the mod client. But I know a couple of folks, who usually come with the pools, have complained about the lack of options in the past.

I respectfully disagree.
Posting an idea on the forum and expecting a community manager or moderator to make everything happen for you is unlikely.
Senior developer @brutus5000 already suggested the next crucial step: create a feature request and start defining the requirements. Then Brutus, or any other available developer, has the necessary information to do "their magic" and actually start working on your idea in their personal free time.
That is the opportunity to put this idea on a path towards implementation. If nobody is willing to take that first step, it becomes difficult to expect others to invest their own time into it.
That being said - I will happily assist anyone who needs help creating a GitHub feature request. Just send me a PM here or on Discord. There are already examples in the repository, so getting started is straightforward.

And I still respectfully disagree this is the way it should be.
Thanks for your response though.

I was under the assumption you have access. Then just forward my message to the people complaining please.
