Footage of the deaths of real people on the official FAF broadcast of the tournament. Is this normal?

Yes, yes you can? Though it's up to the mods to decide if you crossed the line or not (and we all know how inane they tend to be).
And let's be honest, there was no gruesome footage really show on stream. As evident on the footage provided in the links.
Hell, the movies that people suggested here often have more gruesome footage than what was shown in the memes.

There is no bodies, no blood no nothing. Just machines being shown. That yes, have people inside them. But movies imply the exact same thing happening.
So I really see no difference here. If you are fine with movies, you should be fine with this too.

What's next? Will we use the footage of September 11 and the fall of Ahwassa on the air grid? Sounds like fun!

It does actually. Do you not realize this meme is used everywhere and all the time?

@E33144211332424 Good. I'll take footage of some terrorist attack in Europe, add a mercy icon, and draw numbers of reclaim in place of the corpses. I'm waiting for your likes and comments on how funny it is

@Nuggets I don't remember using such a meme in FAF. I agree to any humor if I can respond in a similar way. But for a similar answer, I will be banned according to FAF rules.

Can't believe Oscar Piastri is such a heartless monster to post this on 9/11

Why do we see a video sequence during the official broadcast of the largest tournament, which shows footage of real fighting that led to the death of people? Even if it's in the form of a meme. There are enough scenes in the movies that could be used. But FAF decided otherwise. I would like to hear an official response.

The actions of one or more contributors do not represent the overall intentions of FAForever. There's a high amount of (relatively unregulated) freedom in how contributors can contribute. This is intentional, we can't really function otherwise. The general outline of what we do (not) accept are in the rules and contribution guidelines. In this particular case, the following earlier statement of the board of 2022 is relevant too:

@Syndicus Would it have been funny if the footage of the death of the American military had been used for the clip?

Yes. I have no idea why you think it was a specifically targeted selection rather than just a recent famous clip.

It shouldn't have been shown on the official FAF stream but let's not turn it into something different than what it was.

I personally agree with this point of view. Let's not turn it into something different than it was. There is no hidden agenda here. Yes, I think it is insensitive to use (active) war footage. Yes, I think it does not align with our contribution guidelines or our previous statement about the war. Yes, I think it should not have been used in an official stream of FAForever. A lapse of judgement (a mistake) was made. We can't undo what was streamed. But we can label or clip the content that ends up on YouTube.

Without giving you a more official response @skrat (one that is also discussed with the other board members) I hope my personal response here as president of the association is sufficient to indicate that yes, I also think that this should not be normal. And it isn't normal at the moment in my point of view, this was just an isolated and unfortunate mistake.

A work of art is never finished, merely abandoned

I'm not a member of the FAF committee or FAF leadership and this was purely an oversight error on my part. One of the spicier YT clips from a cast I made got mixed in the "normie FAF memes" shuffle queue I made to reduce livestream downtime.

That clip in particular was sourced from the combat footage subreddit and posted 3+ years ago.

I've made far worse things where innocent people died, including (but obviously not limited to 😉)

                    • a summit superimposed over the sinking titanic
                    • a strat bomber logo over enola gay footage
                    • a czar hitting the twin towers.
                    • An ACU com-bombing with isis propaganda music.
                    • The hindenburg crashing onto a guy and dealing fall damage.
                    • The air france concorde disaster
                    • beetle IED clips from the Iraq war
                    • shock and awe clips from the iraq war
                    • donald trump getting sniped
                    • tiananmen square footage labeled as t2 tanks
                    • the titan submersible imploding like a t1 sub
                    • vietnam ptsd clips for morale damage
                    • planes colliding an an american air show
                    • a friendly fire chestcam where british soldiers died
                    • buildings in Gaza getting levelled
                    • various civillian (engineer) massacres from around the world

This is actually the first time someone has gotten offended, so clearly I need to try harder.

Normally i'd fight you to the death on this, but Since i'm technically guest streaming on FAFLive, i'll just remove that clip from the shuffle reel and everyone can go about their day with their panties untwisted.

@Derp I've been following your work for a long time and I like it. I don't watch long videos or casts on your channel because they are in English., which I don't speak well, but I've seen all of your short videos and most of your memes on discord. I haven't seen a meme with any of the events you mentioned. But maybe you've used them in your long videos and casts. If I had seen it, my reaction would have been calmer.

I personally switched to other videos in between games and didn't see these inserts.

But they brought back unpleasant memories from my friends. After watching the entire video and discussing it with other people from different countries, I expressed a common position that this is not correct.

I understand that you had no evil intent and I am grateful to you for commenting on the tournament for us. Thank you
