Probably same question was asked when Planetary Annihilation was planned. Or whatever other 'community project' that is totally, for sure, pinky swear, the Sup Com successor. I have played the demo, and they haven't even figured out a good UI so far, or even gotten close to what makes FAF good. They're still on their way to even make Sup Com clone that works well, yet alone a successor. And lets not even start on the balance of units, because it's hard to beat years of balance passes. FAF is not going anywhere, just because someone claims in their marketing for yet to be made game, that 'they're the best!'.

The upload mod window does not display the icon, because it seems to be bugged. However, the icon will appear in the Mods tab afterwards. The next logical step toward getting this fixed would be to raise an issue on the GitHub repository.

@HotCheeseInRear I'm not entirely sure what the best approach is for making the icons look good at 1440p and 4K yet, but I'll take a look at how other mods handle it and see what I can learn.

Custom lobbies are most of the time populated with all kind of different maps to play. (NGL, gap is pretty popular) I share your opinion about the match making GUI, that it probably would not hurt to refactor that part to make it even easier accessible. It is something I hear from time to time every few months. This link shows all the open issues related to the FAF Client for the word "match". You can share your possible solution or thoughts on a raised issue/feature to start working on it or, when you are familiar with Java, even better, push a PR.

I think it's linked to the DDOS issue. Give it time. The dev team here will eventually figure out a solution, or the person behind the attacks may at some point find something meaningful to do with their life.
