Can we please disable queue timeouts until the connection issues are fixed?
This sucks. Everybody knows it sucks. The relays are having issues, it's not my fault, why punish me for it? I had somebody direct connected to me, why would I be penalized because the relays aren't working? Please disable this feature until connections are stable again. To be clear, I understand the connection issues are a work in progress. I'm not upset about that, I get it. But the queue timeouts as a result are a gigantic pain added on top of the already existing issues.
I'm attaching my logs anyway but I'm 99% sure this is not my problem.advanced-ice-adapter.log

RE: Why would you have left FAF?
Step 1: Stupid post
Step 2: Attack them so they reply
Step 3: "Gee man that's a whole lotta posts, why don't you just quit?"
I swear it's like you guys want the game to be even more dead than it already is. It was a stupid post, I get it, you can stop now.

RE: unable to launch any maps in FaF
From your error log:
Caused by: java.nio.file.AccessDeniedException: C:\ProgramData\FAForever\cache\featured_mod\bin\dead6eddef8a7786ec13a327513cedfa -> C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe
Something is preventing access to the ForgedAlliance.exe file or holding the file open. First I would reboot, then disable any antivirus that could be interfering. You could also check if there's any weird permissions on either of those folders.

RE: Can we Pleaassee have 1 v1 random map only queue?
I agree with Sylph. If you want people to learn to read maps, instead of just memorizing certain maps, mapgen is the way to go. In general I feel mapgen is better and more interesting for new players because they aren't starting off even further behind by lacking the knowledge of the map. Everybody's seeing the map for the first time together, and from there it comes down to how well they read the map.

RE: Who owns the rights to the SC:FA source code?
Guys... It's not gonna happen. It wouldn't help much even if it did. People with money have tried before and it didn't happen then, it's not going to happen now. Just search the old forums and stop making this thread every week.

That's your personal opinion, and that's okay. What does one need as a mod? A lot of time, a great deal of knowledge about the game, and a respectful, neutral, and objective approach. Do I have all of that?
Given your response to the ddos attack, it is evident that you are neither knowledgeable nor respectful. Hope this helps!
Yes, it helps, but not in the way you might imagine
In the first place, it is evidence that I don't care as little as those who could solve it. In the second place, you seem to have trouble understanding the meaning of your words. I was respectful by not addressing anyone personally. I haven't downvoted your posts either. I also haven't attempted a second-class joke at your expense, like your... let's say, feeble attempt just now.
And that I have no detailed knowledge of IT matters, I have mentioned myself a long time ago.
"I haven't done any of the horrible you've done to me! All I have done is accuse people who have spent many, many hours improving this project of not caring because I'm mad I can't play as many gap games a day!"

Attacking someone in a game forum because they are actually one of the few who are still playing the game... smart boy
You're right, I'm sorry. I underestimated how important you are. It's far more noble to attack one of the few people keeping this thing alive so you have a game to play at all. Keeping FAF running is easy, playing Gap all day is the true challenge.

RE: Forum bug report -Radio button on forum report screen not visible
No, it's not a big deal. But it is clearly unintentional, and bugs that don't get reported don't get fixed. I don't see anywhere else to report issues with the forum, so here we are.

RE: This is how you get more people to play ladder
The main issue with that take is that it doesn't really matter how well ladder measures important competitive skills if nobody plays it. I'd rather have a popular ladder than one which is a perfect measurement of skill but only played by 3 people. Additionally, such a small pool of players makes it effectively impossible to really, properly measure skill. At best you just measure which individual players are better relative to each other.

@freedom_ said in I am abandoning Aeon:
Those charts are cool but meaningless, look at mine, you can make some crazy statements about Cybran being completely broken
90% win rate and I barely play the faction, clearly Cybran needs a load of nerfs. (games since 2022-01-01)
It's more meaningful when you have more than 12 games on the faction

RE: Unresponsive ACU late game
This was on a 20x20 map called Direct Fire, I was in the game too.

RE: ICE adapter status report 2
This slide deck is great! Always great to learn more about how this stuff works. One tiny mistake: On page 5 and 6 you have "wholepunching" instead of "holepunching".
Thanks for all the hard work!

Didn't we already determine sera destros are fine against subs? I swear I just saw a post about that.

RE: Unresponsive ACU late game
If it's pathfinding that's the issue, would selecting everything and clicking stop help?

RE: T2 arty's are a bit broken
T2 arty is in general not a great counter to T2 arty so I'm not sure this really matters much. It is cool seeing the game's physics at work as that has always been a selling point of the game, but it is a bit annoying/confusing in the moment since this limitation isn't presented in the game in any way and you just see arty mysteriously not firing. Same with other situations where weapons cannot fire due to physics. Unfortunately there's probably nothing to be done unless we want to increase the muzzle velocity of arty, which I really don't think we do. In an alternate universe where we could make engine changes, it'd be really cool if the range ring took into account terrain and elevation and range actually varied by height changes in ways other than just "lol muzzle velocity too low/gravity too high"

RE: How exactly do we expect low rated players to play the game?
@melanol said in How exactly do we expect low rated players to play the game?:
No one can block you from playing ranked or coop. Gain experience there, then skyrocket your global rating in noob games
I'm 1k, I can play in these lobbies. Not talking about me. Anyway there are no noob games in US TZ most of the time, and if there are they never start.
And if you're playing US TZ there is no matchmaker. I was the only person in the MM queue when I took this screenshot, and 0 active games.

How exactly do we expect low rated players to play the game?
Just hopped on after work and this is what the lobbies look like:
There's literally nothing somebody less 1k can join that is likely to actually start. Maybe the 1/12 gap lobby will start eventually but there's 2 other gap lobbies above it. I know it's just a single screenshot, but this is hardly the only time I've hopped in during US prime time to see every single lobby or almost every single lobby demanding 1k+. All welcome has virtually died off. When did this community collectively decide that only 1k+ players were allowed to play the game, and why? Is there anything that can be done to actually allow low rated players to play too during US TZ?
