I uninstalled FAF using Windows>Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features
I manually deleted folder C:/Program Files/FAF Client
I re-installed FAF from faf_windows-x64_2023_12_1.exe
FAF then worked fine.
Thank you for your help.

I re-downloaded faf_windows-x64_2023_12_1.exe from the FAF website and re-installed it but I get the same error message when I try to launch FAF. The re-install seemed to go okay. I have windows 10 on my PC.
I just installed the latest version of FAF (2023_12_1). In general new versions of FAF have worked fine for me over the years however I now get the following error message when I run FAF on my PC.
Could you please indicate the current status of announcement 'Addressing Severe Connectivity Issues - What has happened!'
https://forum.faforever.com/topic/6182/addressing-severe-connectivity-issues-what-has-happened
When I play I still see far more disconnects than there used to be on FAF.
The disconnects usually involve two players disconnecting from each other while all other connections remain. The game stops and takes a few minutes to show who has disconnected from whom and then generally several more minutes trying to persuade one of them to exit so the game can continue.
Most games have at least one disconnect and it's common to have several disconnects in one game. Games are frequently won/lost due to disconnects as a player and all their buildings/units disappearing usually has a big effect.
I think the degraded game experience is making people leave FAF so they can play other more reliable games.
- and 3) seem to have been fixed but not 2).
Under water wreckage is much harder to see than it used to be. This makes the game worse not better. Players should be able to get the reward of reclaiming wreckage. While a player is trying to scout, fight enemy units, maintain/develop their base, etc the last thing they need is difficulty seeing the wreckage they are trying to reclaim.
Turning 'reclaim labels' on can help to see wreckage however in general this presents a bewildering volume of green numbers onto the screen that undermines visibility of units and is very distracting.
There should be clear easily visible contrast between black wreckage and the blue of the water so players can see where to direct their engineers to reclaim.
I think it would help a lot if this was fixed.
@jip said in Bugs In The Most Recent Version of Supreme Commander (I believe this is 3759):
You can use the reclaim overlay to find the reclaim, that will help with (2).
Okay but it really needs fixing by putting it back to what it was. Presumably this is an issue of the colour of wreckage which should be black when under blue water. At the moment it seems translucent.

This Seton's Clutch replay includes salems getting stuck on steep beach edges around the pond in the north land mass about 45 mins into the game.
-
Salems get stuck on land on steep beach edges and maybe other places.
-
Under water wreckage is almost invisible making it hard to find and reclaim.
-
When a player disconnects his com does not die so all his units and buildings don't get passed onto his team mates during a full share game.
Supreme Commander continues to be more unreliable than it used to be with frequent disconnects which
makes 3) even worse.
Looks like the underlying problem was caused by Norton Antivirus Data Protector.
I deleted the old 'C:\Program Files\Downlord's FAF Client' folder and down loaded the latest FAF client installer from https://www.faforever.com/
When I tried to run this I got a "Data Protector blocked a suspicious action by faf_windows-x64_2022_4_0(1).exe" message.
I managed to get Norton to exclude this process and then everything seemed to run okay.
I do have enough disk space. 404 GB free of 476 GB.
I have not tried to install it to a different disc drive.
I don't know how to re-run the FAF Client Install now that the update has failed.
File C:\Program Files\Downlord's FAF Client.install4j\i4j_extf_10_4k8v4f_18gg8kx.png
is present on my drive despite the error message saying it could not be created.
There are four files in total similar to this. They appear to be monitor icons with different shades of blue.
I tried updating to the latest FAF client release on 29/04/2022.
Part way through the update I got an error message.
"C:\Program Files\Downlord's FAF Client.install4j\i4j_extf_10_4k8v4f_18gg8kx.png
Could not create this file. Shall I try again?"
I clicked "yes" a few times but it didn't help so then I clicked "cancel".
Now I have no FAF shortcut on my desktop and I don't know what state the FAF update is in.
I have updated the FAF client numerous times in the past without having problems.
What should I do now ?
Recently in some games Supreme Commander gets stuck and always zooms into the same place on the map making the game unplayable.
I tried pressing 'End' and 'v' and nothing I did helped. It cleared by itself for the next game but then resurfaced.
Is this a known problem at all ?
Are there any known fixes ?
