Client Crash after start
-
The error message appeared in that support thread, does any solution there work for you too?
-
Thanks for your reply!
The suggestions there seem promising, especially the contributions from @zalbor
However, my issue is that the client crashes even before I can log into the online mode, check the client menu or start a custom game for updates to be downloaded.
I receive the error message above only when I´m using compatibility mode and only when I try to start the client in offline mode.
When I start a custom game from the Steam version of SC, then it works just fine (after I disabled all of my mods which caused the game to crash as well through some lua error).
I´m sorry if these details might not be helpful or misleading. I will gladly provide you with affitional information should you need it to understand my issue.

What OS are you using? Usually compatibility mode is not necessary.
Please reproduce the issue again and then share the new client.log.

I´m using Windows 11.
Update: When starting the client right after restaring Windows I was able to briefly log into the client and start a custom game which allowed my to download some files including the missing /bin/ folder. This means that I´m able to start SC in offline mode, however only when starting the client compatibility mode for some reason. So far so good...
The underlying issue with the client crashes still remains. I hope that the attached log file can help:
-
There is no error in the log that would explain the issue. I do not know why compatibility mode is required, but at least it works with it.
-
When you say crash if you mean the client just closes then most likely it is some antivirus or some security software force stopping the client.
-
I had this problem before, but not sure if it was the exact same error. For me it was some problem with .net framework and it was fixed by updating windows with the newest updates
-
Thank you all for your advice!
@sheikah The client just closes after starting it without allowing me to start offline mode or log into the online mode. I´ve checked whether the client or SC is mentioned in the firewall exceptions or might be blocked by an antivirus software. Nothing – at least to my knowledge – should be blocking the client.
@nuggets I already have the most recent version of .NET Framework 4.8.1 installed. So no luck there unfortunately.
One new error message that has appeared while trying to start the client now mentions an issue with the refresh token. I´ve attached the log with the error message below and I also checked the forum for possible solutions (clearing browsers cache, temporarily changing the Default Browser). So far, no improvement.
One more observation: Since, at least for the moment, I´m able to use and log into the client only if I start it up right after (re)starting windows, I´ve noticed that the client crashes if I try to change its window size – no matter if by dragging the window manually or by clicking window control buttons on the top right.
I´m sorry for not being of more help but I really appreciate your suggestions!

Fyi, i also had the newest version but somehow it was fixed by an update. It was a new build and not just a framework update
-
So I reinstalled .NET Framework by going to: Control Panel → Programs → Turn Windows features on or off
This didn´t help. Did you use a different way of updating it?
