      That time is now 5 minutes. It is not unusual to have a situation where you kill a drop or bomb an opponent's engineers at 3-4 minutes, after which he quits the game knowing that no one will continue and the game will be unranked. Often both teams suffer from this, as the opposite situation was reversed on the other side, but that player is the one who will no more continue to play

        Does this problem exist? What setting are you talking about? In my experience the only game type that can be decided by first 3 mins is 1v1 ladder. But it becomes ranked way before 3 minute mark. UPD: I’ve made a quick search, ladder is ranked minute 1.

        I play mostly TMM 3v3/4v4 and I don’t see anyone resigning early (except disconnects ofc)

          Custom games are ranked for 60 seconds per player if I understand the server code correctly: https://github.com/FAForever/server/blob/9d6ba68e24f9bd60fbd83836e45820a8fb2aa4c0/server/games/custom_game.py#L24

          I thought it was 30 seconds per player before, I guess I was wrong? Anyway it's not that difficult to end a game before the time limit by going first bomber and making someone quit, which causes the rest of their team to quit and rehost.
          Matchmaker games have no minimum duration before being ranked.

          Games decided so early are low quality so they should be unranked but unranking it also discourages any early game aggression because you can just force people to rehost games you don't like the start of (until you get foe'd).
          I think players who abuse that should be punished with rating loss so the time limit should be set lower.
