Coop missions intermittent lag
-
I can confirm that I have also had the same issue when playing with a friend. The Issue seems connected to the in-game "taunts" and other voiced videos. It seems to get worse if the camera also needs to "pan". And sometimes results in "crashes"/"freezes".

3 of us total. Only 1 of us has the issue, and he says it's both single and multiplayer.
The 2 of us who don't have the issue are fine when it's only us in the game.
The problem player has a 2080Ti. The other 2 of us have a 4070Super and a 2060. -
I had a similar issue personally, but it stopped when I ran the faf client as an admin + 4 core affinity.
This didn't resolve the issue for my friend though. He says that there is no lag when running the campaign directly in steam, IE not with FAF.

@Phoenix_NZ What is the spec, both CPU and GPU of the user with issues?
-
I am having the exact same issue. The game ran fine for years on my old Windows 10 machine, running on an i7 and 1070. However after upgrading Windows 11 with a 9800X3D and 4070-Super the coop missions always lags out and eventually freeze during cutscenes (basically whenever an NPC dialogue box pops up). This also forces me to restart my PC as I cannot close, minimize or tab out of the frozen game window, which is stuck on top of everything else, including task manager.

All users running latest graphics drivers

@N0ld0r Hello, i also encountered this a while ago. afaik, it's a nvidia driver issue. and a later driver update fixed it. it's not only faf, but also affacted fa/sc. i got 3 pc installed fa, then one day i just noticed the lag. initially, i suspeceted win11 updates. later, i read some nvidia related threads. so i turned to the only pc with amd video card, and found that machine was fine.
later, nvidia issued a new update, i installed and the problem gone. the pc with problem had 2080 and 10603g respectively. 6650xt on was fine.

I don't think it's driver related, or at least not only driver related. For me the issue resolved itself when I started running the faf client as admin, and for my friend we last night updated his nvidia-drivers to the latest, and the problem persisted.
-
The friend with the problem has reinstalled his graphics drivers and FAF, and that has not solved his problems. I guess we'll try running FAF as admin next. I've also asked him to download the borderless gaming app on steam, since I know for me that at least solved crashing on alt-tabbing by accident...

Some update from my friend, when we switched his windows power plan setting from Balanced to High Performance, the lag was vastly reduced. So might be related to how windows scheduler handles the loading of files from the OS or something like that (assuming this task is delegated to a background thread). Worth trying for anyone else with the issue
