Each rainbow cup has had a different structure to attract different players.
The first 2 RC's were 4v4 tournaments.
RC III and IV tournaments were - 12 teams of three with open ratings.
The last tournament was also 12 teams of three, but.. sub 1800s.This tournament with only 8 teams of three. .
was meant to have the highest average rated teams to date.
(plus be shorter, time wise each day)It's a gamble to host a tournament with too many teams and
not have it fill up properly,
which would make for unbalanced teams. -
The First 2 RC's, were 4v4 tournaments and there were many slowdowns and desynchs.
This led to the tourny changing to 3v3 format.The "Problem" with the 12 team format being held in 3 days..
is that there are long days required to complete the 3 matches on the opening weekend.
And many players complained (And, I totally agree) that it is hard to either:
Play 3 matches at competition level, and not get fatigued, or
to find the time across 24 time zones to allow for a '3 match a day' format.
The tourny would run very late in the East Europe time zones. -

Oh, compared to the last 2 years, you mean,
where all players signed up as singles?Well.. the "problem" with that method, is that the top rated captains,
didn't know who they would get to play with.
With a draft method and possible low turnout numbers,
along with a late 10th - 12th pick of players,
the top seeded captains, often got "stuck" with unknowns,
and not really fair, or "fun" for them... so they did not enter.
Plus.. many players expressed their desire to be able to sign up with a friend.This tourny allows every captain to get to pick one player of their
choice to sign up within a 4.1K rating cap.
And still have teams seeded, and incorporate a draft.Please check post #19 above, where I explain the reasoning behind this decision,

@fearghal First on the first round from bottom to top and on the second round of selection from bottom to top, it would be better yes, but about this addition. let's all just declare with our teams, there is very little sense left from the selection, I liked the selection of players and it could be modernized (by changing the selection sequence, as it was said), but now the tournament is losing its individuality

Wouldn’t be surprised if this, alongside other rainbow cups, would be the only teamgame tournies of the year so I fail to see how any individuality is lost.

Eh, rn me and arch would be like 6 and 8 in terms of rating for picks so it isn’t even imba really. The imba aspect is that there are the handful of 2300-2400 captains that make their team 200-300 points higher on average since there are enough 1800s to fill the rest of the slots on teams. Can’t fix it unless you force Yudi/Farm to pick some 1400 but at that point you might as well as go back to rating caps.

act as you know, I just said my thought, exactly a year ago I could not play in this tournament for reasons known to everyone, now I want to take part, and I’m a little confused that the registration rules have changed, because it takes away from the thought of how it happened before , and I liked the last way more, in any case, good luck to everyone in this tournament, the main thing is that the game is fair xDDDDDD

Reminds me of the whole bully thing with "nooooo you and ftx are way stronger than me and auto in 2v2, it's not faaair" before they clapped us and knocked us out.
There is less than 500 rating difference between all the teams right now and this is before the 3rd player picking which is gonna make it closer by a few 100 (unless teams purposely pick a lower rated player). I'm sure the team that will pick protect won't get stronger than the team who picks a random 1800

@fearghal I thought having lower rating would give me a chance to be picked into stronger teams. It's reversed now. I won't be picked.
Your rules are too hard to follow. Need to simplify.

The last RC was for under 1800 players,
where 36 players from 800 to 1800 got to play.This tourny was purposely set up to have
a higher rated field of players participate. -
