I think I followed JIPS tutorial correctly for creating the correct shadow casting light mask node in World Machine (I also created it right in Gaea) but i think the problem I am having is I am not sure I am saving/exporting this file correctly from Photopea the online photo editor tool. I need specific steps to properly create the alpha channel and get casting just a faint transparent shadow of the mountains onto the ground......I got it working on the top layer but I dont think its correctly applying the transparency as the whole map layer mask looks too dark when I apply it

Folks, when I click the keyboard shortcuts link inside the editor it lands on a webpage that says oops not available....its been like this for a long time now, is there anywhere I can get a list of these keyboard shortcuts?
Hey gents I am messing around with GAEA and thinks its pretty powerful with the nodes and stuff, but how would you make a terrain symmetrical in the editor?
ok i think i got it....when you build the nodes you have to select the proper resolution of the map size +1 for it to import properly as a height map in the editor.....thanks for your help
ok got it working now to save the nodes to files...however now when I try to import new GAEA modified heightmap back into a my Map editor its says wrong file size
Hi Index, I wanted to give Gaea a test run to export one of my height maps and tweak the terrain a bit then import it back into the Map Editor. Problem I ran into is, I was able to create different nodes in GAEA and got my heightmap looking the way I wanted it with 3 different nodes, but when I tried to mark for export and Build them, nothing appears in the folder I created to export them....what could I be doing wrong? a quick window pops up that looks like a DOS screen when I hit the build button, but nothing gets created in the folder I created to Build it/Export it to

gents i want you all to know that your advice and my hard work payed off!!!....Windows just released a Windows 11 update that I grabbed 22H2 and all of a sudden, everything is BACK TO NORMAL!!

im convinced its either a FAF or Windows update that affects only FAF that did this.......
I just plugged in a headset into the audio 3.5mm port and it is still missing all the same sound stuff in game....and only plays some music and some of the sound fx......team needs to look into this....something is wrong
All good recommendations but I added nothing new to audio devices
no streaming mirroring apps
Went thru all sound settings in Windows, even reset them changed to different 2 channel playback qualities, DVD, CD, all different bit settings
Sound seems to be just missing some of the sounds....in game and also in lobby (for example when you hover over different players in a game lobby, it used to make a big bassy whoooooom.....no more)
some sound fx do play in game but it seems like alot are missing and I can no longer hear any of the sound bytes macros in game (for example, Goodbye!, You Cant Stop the EUF, Killing u will be .....all of em, cant hear me)
reboots. refafs this has been going on since last week,....and I think it was one of the updates recently where I noticed this change
Wierdest thing.....over the last week or so, every match I seem to lose the sound fx during play and only the music plays during the game......every other game, app, browser is absolutely fine. No audio issues whatsover.......this is the first time this has ever happened to me in FAF in over 10 years with the game......And its every game now since last week
did a recent update screw up the audio channels or something?
I made no new changes to my PC and it has always played the sound great
I reset settings in FAF, and in the actual Supreme Commander game during the match and made sure all audio sliders are full 100
I also reselected audio driver Realtek as the default driver to see if resetting it in Windows would fix......so far nothing. Could it be a latest FAF update that screwed things up?
How come some MAPS show Stars on the front page and some only show when you click on the map?
Also I cant read people's comments on the map, it just shows their ratings.....they said they left comments
So I have a dds image that i am using as my base texture in the lowest Layer. It opens up and fills my 5km Map 1:1 perfectly when I increase the Albedo slider to 256.....
However if I create a 10km map......that same image is tiled 4x filling on the map at a 1:4 ratio when I increase the Albedo slider to 256. So the result is 4 tiled images filling the base layer of my map.
So my question is how can I get this same image to appear 1:1 on my Base Layer on a 10km map? I've tried resizing the image 4 x larger, I tried increasing the resolution of the image and resaving it....no matter what I do, it seems to still tile the image x 4 when the Albedo slider is maxed out to 256 on the Base Layer.
Any ideas or tricks to get it to appear 1:1 like on a 5km map?
thanks all for the recommendations for Textures....now I was looking for some place to grab more ready to use decals I can just paste into my maps?....Any ideas?
Or is there an easy way to make them? I saw some other types of files with the textures such as displacement, roughness, AO ect....just curious what these are for? I tried pasting one a decal and it looked horrible with a washed out white stamp appearance........
I noticed recently in the Map Editor that my created maps no longer show the actual civilian and/or enemy units on the map.....I only see a square dot representing their placement but cant tell what unit is there. Also I noticed in the unit library when you search for units, everything looks a little out of order as well.......Did something change in the game client that impacted that or is it a setting change I perhaps accidently made in the editor that screwed these things up?
I think perhaps one of the FAF client updates did something that screwed with this stuff....but thats just a guess.
Any ideas how I can fix this?
i just went to the polyhaven site and downloaded a few different interesting textures.....but they are blender files? How do I get them into the FAF Map Editor to use on my customized maps?
folks, any idea where I can grab some more cool looking colors and textures to dump into the Map Editor? I find myself repeating the same grass, mountain and textures over and over....I need some different textures and colors to work with

that is a bit of a shame as I find the Neroxis Generator could have been a good foundational Map Editor tool to get you started in the right creative direction......ah well
