The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!
Did you update/reinstall graphic card drivers and DirectX 9?
Did you file integrity check on Steam?
Did you run this program in compatibility mode for win 7 for example?
