      Hello everyone,

I know that only specific part of the code of the game are accessible to FAF developer because the code is proprieritary owned.
One issue with that, as far as I understood, is that some important aspects of the game (like pathfinding) cannot be modified.

I was wondering if via some kind of crowdfunding it could be possible to buy the right to access and modify the source code of the game.
Maybe my question is very naive but I prefer to ask anyway.
      Has it been considered?

      Thanks.

According to previous posts - it seems the legal owner of the source code is Square Enix. It would be cool to crowdsource potential contacts and decision makers at Square Enix who control or influence rights to the source code. Also, including people who might already have been contacted and what they have said.

We had somone willing to invest serious amount of money into the rights. Nobody is interested in selling it. And even then most probably the source code is lost, only intellectual property rights remain to be acquired.

            Is playin' FAF, playin' FAF"
