Based on the second line "Unable to patch Forged Alliance to the required version due to conflicting version running" i would try to reinstall the game through stream or wherever you got it from

@nuggets thanks for the reply! So reinstalling the game rather than the client could solve the issue?

@specialk I think so. Doesnt hurt to try. Maybe want to save your game.prefs file for your ingame settings

Hi there, I have had the same error. I've uninstalled SC and FAF client, reinstalled both, same error (copied below for reference). Any other idea what it could be?

Sorry, just checked between the two, they are not the same error. Am I better off starting a new thread or just continuing this one here? thanks!

It boils down to be the same issue

                  Caused by: java.nio.file.AccessDeniedException:

                  Could be related to:

                  • Security Settings
                  • User/Folder Permission
                  • Maybe malformed files in FAForever\cache

You can try to install the client outside a "protected" Windows folder like another disc D:/FAF, or C:/FAF for testing purpose, or/and clear the cache folder and retry again.

(Usually and by default FAF works out of the box with most common environments, but there are so many users with so many different cases ...)

As a last resort, you can follow 2.1 from this guide to uninstall FAF and Supreme Commander completely and remove any leftover files, just to be sure´and try to install it again.

Thanks, I had thought I'd checked through the security settings, but will have another pass this evening and see if I can work out what is stopping it.

Just as an update, it was indeed the permissions in my anti virus. Thanks for the help 🙂
