The current pre-release of the client ("pioneer" in the version) is only compatible to itself. So you can only play with other testers. Please be aware!

Hey, a quick question about simspeed and how much CPU is the bottleneck and how much the game engine itself.

I played a 20x20km Voodoo castle with 5x M28's. After about 30 minutes when AI has tons of units, my speed will usualy drop to -3 speed, but today it slowly went all the way to -7. And i played with air, T3 arty and nuke disabled.

I have an ancient i5 2500k and will upgrade soon. But my question is this: would a current flagship cpu be able to keep the game at 0 sim all through the game, or is the game engine bottleneck also and i would still get reduced speed ?

My cpu was at about 60% most of the game, 1 core around 80%.

Depending on the ammount of AI's and units even the beefiest CPU's are gonna struggle.
But the reality is that the game is much, much smoother on new CPU's compared to older ones.
Especially if you focus on single core performance over the amount of cores. So high clocked 6 core or something with 3D cache would be amazing for this game. As what it needs is basically 2 cores, with one of them being ultra fast.

Having good ram also helps a considerable amount.
